You know what sucks about smartphones? Their utter and total, um, brick-ness. Sure, they fit snugly into pockets but they stubbornly refuse to transform into other shapes. This is a travesty that Optimus Prime would never, ever stand for. When is this going to change? When will smartphones be as bendable and pliable as, say, a piece of common notebook paper? Sooner than you’d think, actually.

The race to create fully flexible phones has been on for some time. Tech luminaries such as LG, Philips and Sony have all announced they are working on the technology. However, it is Samsung who plans to come to market first. The company has announced it should have a flexible phone available in stores at some time during 2013.

Samsung’s entry into the bendable rat race uses flexible OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology, which allows you to squeeze, bend and shape your smartphone however you want. It can even be worn as a watch, if you are into that sort of thing(you probably are.) The company has yet to announce an official name for the line, an official launch date or even a price. One can imagine, however, it would cost a pretty penny. After all, now even skinniest jean of all time can accommodate your smartphone. It’s a true game-changer for the modern man and woman. We’ll let you know as soon as the Korean technology manufacturer drops some more pertinent information. Until then, stare at a piece of paper longingly.
