Garmin’s New Forerunner Watches Can Actually Predict Your Race Times

Well, summer is nearly over and we all know what that means. That’s right. It’s time to waste away indoors, subsisting solely on nachos and hearty beef stews, multiplying fat cells be darned! No. We can’t let that happen. Let’s treat this upcoming winter as a test run for how to still get out of the house and exercise when the cards are against us. We are going strength and resolve but, more than that, we are gonna need some snazzy new wearable tech. On that count, Garmin has delivered a new line of smart watches that should help us get a grip on the coming cold seasons.

These watches do something that no other watch has really ever done before. They can predict how well you do in a race, or how well you do in you garden variety training session. How does it do that? Well, it measures a whole host of pertinent vital signs, including oxygen levels, heart rate and more. It can collates this information into a rough estimate of how well you’ll do as you are doing it. It’s sort of like the Minority Report of watch-based vitality trackers. Where is Tom Cruise when you need him?

The Garmin Forerunner 220 an 620 both feature a one inch color screen, but only the 620 can do the snazzy future telling stuff. Of course, like most watches in this class, they sync up to your phone, PC or tablet so you can mindlessly stare at an endless stream of charts and graphs detailing your latest triumphs. The 220 will set you back $220 when it releases this fall and the much anticipated 620 model will empty your wallet of approximately $450. Now get out there and run!
