We’ve talked a lot about Garmin over the years. First we introduced you to the Forerunner 110, then the Forerunner 410 and 610, and then the Garmin Fenix. Well, there’s one more watch in Garmin’s Forerunner line. It’s their flagship model, and it’s called the Garmin Forerunner 910XT.

The Garmin Forerunner 910XT is specifically made for triathletes. It’s water resistant up to 50 meters, or 164 feet, and it’s Garmin’s first watch to offer extensive statistics for swimmers, from swimming distance to stroke identification to stroke count, and even pool lengths.

The Garmin Forerunner 910XT, like it’s smaller siblings, is also GPS enabled. It can record the exact path that you ran, swam or cycled, and you can view the path later on using the map function of Garmins “Garmin Connect”, which is the online community for Garmin users. Using this can greatly help you fine-tune your swimming open water swimming, the path that you want to take, and other features of your sessions.

Another great feature about the Forerunner 910XT is that it can transition quickly between sports, which is great for triathletes in particular. You can set the watch up to know which sport is next, so all it takes is one button press to change the sport that the watch is collecting data for.

Like the other watches in the Forerunner line, the Forerunner 910XT collects all the data you would expect from a watch like this. Things such as time, distance, speed and pace are welcome features that are often taken for granted on these devices. With the Forerunner 910XT, you can also set up alerts for when it’s time for you to take in a bit of nutrition, when you’re about to reach your goals, or other things. Other things that the Forerunner 910XT can record include elevation data like  ascent and descent, which is welcome for runners who might be running up and down hills and mountains, and can help athletes fine-tune their performance.

The Garmin Forerunner 910XT also comes with a handlebar mount for cycling, and an optional heart rate monitor that can be worn in all sports but will not record data when submerged in water. It can last up to 20 hours straight without needing a charge. Like the other Forerunner watches, it is also compatible with other Garmin products such as the Tanita BC-1000 body composition scale. The Garmin Forerunner 910XT is a great watch for athletes of all kinds, and can be purchased from the Garmin website for $399.99 without a heart rate monitor, or $449.99 with a heart rate monitor. If you’re an athlete who needs a tool to help fine-tune your performance, or who just wants a better system to record your performance data, then the Garmin Forerunner 910XT might be the product for you.
