You know and love your smartphone, but did you know we are about to enter the age of the smartwatch? It’s true. These wrist-hanging doodads are coming to market in a big way. Almost every big tech company has announced they are making one. Apple? Check. Google? Yeppers. Belkin and just about every other big and small name company? You betcha. In short, we are about to have our pick of watches that do all the same stuff our phones do but, you know, on our wrist. Dick Tracy never had it so good.
Now Samsung is jumping in to the fray. Rumors had persisted that the electronics manufacturer was getting in the smartphone game but executive VP Lee Young has just, finally, clarified those rumors. “We are preparing products for the future, and the watch is definitely one of them.” He said.
It must be noted, however, that Mr. Young does not want to be the first company to release one of these devices, saying he’d rather Samsung take their time until they got it right. To that end, the photo connected to this article is from a previous dumbwatch Samsung released in 2009. No actual hardware has been revealed as of yet but we would place a bet on something getting officially announced in the coming months. Oh well, there are plenty of other smartwatches you can wrap around your wrist until then.
