Google is a pretty powerful company. They own the search engine game so hard that Jeeves is now ‘asking’ for change on the street. Altavista is, well, back where whatever it came from. Yahoo has decided to become a professional yodeler. Their mobile OS, Android, has also made steady gains and is, for all intents and purposes, now more popular than Apple’s iOS. Also, the company merely announced they were developing their now infamous Google Glasses and every company started setting up copycat specs. In short, whatever they touch turns to gold.
Now, if rumors and patents are to be believed, the company is about to head into the soon-to-be overpopulated smartwatch ring. A Business Insider, um, insider reports that, according to recently unearthed patents, the company is developing their very own smartwatch. Their entry into the market would presumably do what these watches usually do, namely interact with your phone, allow you to send and receive texts via voice command and track your vitals(among other things.) It would also presumably tell time, although as iPhone owners know, tech objects don’t always do the thing they were originally intended to do. Ooh snap.
Of course, this is all myth and conjecture until the big ‘G’ formally announces it. We’ll keep our ear to the ground, as always, and let you know what we know as soon as we know it. In the meantime, you are free to tape your Nexus 7 tablet around your wrist.
