Every couple of days there’s a new smartwatch that’s added to the growing list of smartwatch options for consumers. Despite the growing list, it seems that many of the smartwatches released have similar or the same features, and often can’t offer anything really new and exciting to the table. So far almost all the smartwatches that have been released have been devices that are supposed to be connected to smartphones in order to reach their full potential. The smartwatches that we have seen that have been standalone devices have for the most part only been concept designs, or have been a long way off from release.

Well that’s about to change with the recently announced inWatch One, from a Chinese company called inWatch.

Essentially, the aim of the inWatch One is to replace the smartphone. In fact, the want includes a heavily modified version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. But a number of watches are based on Android. What really sets the inWatch One is the fact that it includes GSM capabilities. This means that it can access mobile data, and essentially replace your smartphone for certain features.

The inWatch One also sports several other great features that mean it could end up replacing your smartphone. It has WiFi capabilities, GPS, and it even has a 2 megapixel camera built into it. Not only that, but it also supports voice commands, making a lot easier to control the watch. If you don’t like using voice commands though, have no fear because of course the watch also features a touch screen.

Furthermore, the watch features the ability to play music directly from the watch, and of course it features a clock.

While the inWatch One could potentially end up replacing your smartphone, for those of you who just aren’t ready to take that leap yet, the inWatch One features Bluetooth so that you can connect it to your smartphone and use it to make finding out about your notifications a lot easier.

Other features of the inWatch One include a screen size of 1.54 inches with a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels and a density of 220 PPI. It has a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, which should be more than enough for what most people will be using the watch for. All these features are packed into a stylish and sleek design.

The inWatch One is certainly a step foreword in smartwatch technology, and it’s on pre-order for around $295. We can only imagine what the next smartwatch releases will look like if they are to top the inWatch One!
