Our technology moves fast, albeit not fast enough for some. Sure, we aren’t too close to warp speed space travel and our generation(s) will probably just miss out on elongated life spans but that doesn’t mean all is lost. No sir(or maam.) One futuristic tech that is rapidly approaching is realistic and amazing virtual reality tech. What exactly does this mean? Think Star Trek’s famous holodeck and you’d have a firm enough grasp on the concept. When the Oculus Rift VR headset was debuted, heads certainly turned. Now there is a new contender for the virtual reality crown.
Introducing the  vrAse headset. This virtual reality headset seems to be a good starter unit for those just getting interested in the rapidly expanding field of VR. Whereas the Oculus Rift has its own screen, this little jobbie right here lets you use your smartphone as a screen. It supports iPhone 5, HTC One, Xperia Z, Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note II. This list should expand as times goes on. As far as functionality goes, we imagine similar experiences to be had on the Rift could be found here(although a smartphone’s computing power is significantly less than a high end PC.)
Now here is some good news and some bad news. Here is the good news. Being as how it doesn’t have its own screen, the price right. Nabbing one of these will cost you just $75. Now for some bad news. It’s not out yet and it is not even certain to be out. The creators of said device are taking to Kickstarter to help complete funding. We’ll let you know how it goes.
