Rumors about the LG Lifeband Touch have certainly been abundant over the past year, ever since CES last year. Well LG has finally come out and officially announced the Lifeband Touch at CES 2014, a sleek and classy activity monitoring device that helps you get moving and stay healthy.

The device looks very nice, and features a full touch OLED display, something that is a lot better than most other fitness devices we’ve seen so far. Like other fitness devices, the Lifeband Touch tracks things like how many steps you take, distance travelled and how many calories you’ve burned. It will also monitor your heart rate, which is a nice touch.

Where the Lifeband Touch gets interesting is that it also acts as somewhat of a smart-device, and can pair with your smartphone and display phone and message alerts. Not only that, but you can control your phones music player while working out straight from the device. All of this connectivity happens over Bluetooth and is compatible with both iOS and Android.

The Lifeband Touch features a 3-axis accelerometer and an altimeter, and because of that it can monitor all different kinds of movement that one might make while working out, even things like going uphill or downhill. The device is also splash proof, so if you get a little sweaty while working out theres no need to worry about the Lifeband Touch.

The device can run for 5 days on a single charge, so charging it often won’t need to happen and you can keep it on your wrist most of the time. Furthermore, the device has a vibrate feature which can be used as an alarm.

The device features Bluetooth 4.0, and you’ll have to use LG’s app to connect it to your devices. The app will also allow you to see your progress and workout data. The device will set you back $179, which really isn’t bad compared to some other fitness devices, and will be available for purchase some time later this year, though an exact release date is unknown.
