The Sony Walkman series has made a huge impact on portable music and how we listen to music outside of our home. Back in the day that meant ultra portable cassette and CD players. Now it means something completely different. Sony recently launched a new line of headphones called the WH series. But the WH series isn’t just a line of headphones.
Most people nowadays use their smartphones for their portable music players. But for those of us who use MP3 players, it can be a lot to remember when you leave the house. First you have to remember the actual MP3 player, then the headphones themselves. Forget one of those things and you’re out of luck for music.
The WH series aims to remedy this problem by combining the MP3 player and the headphones. Not only do the headphones carry an MP3 player, but they even include a set of speakers in order to enable the ability to share music with your friends!
The headphones include up to 16GB of storage, which should carry plenty of music for your listening pleasure. They can also last up to 20 hours on a single charge.
The WH series headphones comes in two models - The NWZ-WH50, which has 16GB of storage, sports 40mm headphone drivers and they claim a frequency range of 5Hz to 25kHz, which is a bigger range than the human can hear! The less expensive NWZ-WH303 has 30mm drivers and a claimed frequency range of 30Hz to 20kHz. It also has 4GB of storage which is still plenty of room, and should hold up to about 1000 songs.
There is no word yet on pricing or availability but this certainly seems like a great buy, and a product to keep an eye on!
