Update July 5, 2022After having a few software updates from the manufacturer this smartwatch has improved a lot. You can now answer text messages with simple preset responses or emojis. Fitness tracking is more accurate and the same with sleep tracking, GPS locks on faster and is more accurate, and the battery life is still exceptional. This is why I have gone from 4 to 5 star rating. This is truly a great smartwatch.For the money this is one of the best smartwatches currently available (with the exception of the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro). Sure, there are probably better and more sophisticated smartwatches like some of the Garmin, Samsung (if you have a Samsung phone) or Apple (if you have an iPhone), but nothing at this price that gives full functionality on both Android and iOS devices, or beats the impressive battery life. I have had this smartwatch for 5 days with all health tracking, sleep tracking, lift to wake and all notifications on and I have still got over 60% battery life left. The only thing that I don’t use is always on display as it doesn’t suit my needs.I have tested the fitness tracking capabilities of this smartwatch against things like a pulse oximeter with heart rate and found this smartwatch to be extremely accurate and was able to detect the odd times that I held my breath while sleeping after a stressful day (which is also monitored 24 hours a day) at work. The GPS is again extremely accurate when tested against the GPS of my Google Pixel 5 and my wife’s Samsung Galaxy phone. The sleep tracking also appears to be accurate at determining the amount of time I had spent in the different stages of sleep, light, deep and rem sleep and was very accurate of the time I fell asleep, times awake and when I woke up in the morning. The 24 hour heart and SP02 (oxygen saturation) with alerts for irregular heartbeat and low oxygen levels is a definite benefit for us older people (I am 61 years young) and for people who push their bodies during workouts. Workout routines on this smartwatch are very extensive with 150 different types of workouts built-in and again appear to be very accurate. I normally only do a few workouts like elliptical, stationary bike, weight training, bike riding (outdoor), kayaking and brisk walking and the biometrics all work very well for me. I really like being able to check my text messages, emails, social media messages and phone calls with a quick look at my wrist without constantly having to take my phone out of my pocket (the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro offers the ability to answer and make phone calls directly from the watch thanks to its built-in speaker but at the time I purchased this watch there was a large difference in price that I could not justify for this convenience). The Zepp companion app takes a little time to learn but is very informative and is quite simple to use once you get used to it and is very customizable to your needs. As far as customizability is concerned, this watch has roughly 100 different watch faces in the Zepp app but I have found a few third party apps on the Play Store that allow the ability to sideload different watch faces (see first picture included). The 2 voice assistants built-in are also very helpful. The offline assistant is a very fast and efficient way of opening apps and exercise routines without having to scroll through to find them and Alexa by Amazon also works flawlessly at controlling my smart home or searching for information from the Web. All in all, I am extremely happy with the purchase of this smartwatch and can assume that it will only get better with firmware updates in the future. The only downside that I have found with this watch is the limited app support on its app store, but that may improve with time. Would I recommend this for serious fitness guru’s, probably not as I would recommend Garmin for these people but in my opinion this is certainly better than the different Fitbit watches I have used in the past. Would I recommend this smartwatch for people like me who like to have information on their overall health and keep track of their fitness activities to see how they are progressing, absolutely. This is a very capable smartwatch at a very reasonable price for these top notch features. One very good feature that I hadn’t touched on is the ability to send exact GPS locations to emergency services and to selected contacts in the event of an accident or if you collapse and can’t get up is again a significant benefit for older people.Hope this is helpful for anyone looking at getting this smartwatch.Update April 15, 2022I have noticed some very faint scratches on the screen just from rubbing against the inside of my jacket sleeve, so this is not Gorilla Glass. I can’t imagine needing more workout options or settings or features… too many to list and review here. I use the Android Zepp app on my Samsung phone and there’s a lot of information in the app and it’s pretty intuitive to me; you use the phone app do most of the watch settings and see the super-detailed health and workout data, just make sure to keep the app running all the time. That means now your phone’s bluetooth is always on, something new to me but I suppose not for a lot of people. If you’re away from your phone, it all syncronizes the next time the watch and phone connect. The battery and price were my main reasons for choosing this watch (and it’s round, like a watch should be). The battery is no joke: I think the manufacturer promises around 12 days, and after nine days it was at 14%. I logged a workout each day, made and answered a few phone calls, slept overnight with it on once, replied to texts, kept it connected to the phone, never turned it off, left most if not all of the default settings (screen NOT always on, heart rate every 10 minutes), and played with it a lot. No doubt results will vary. Just a couple hours to re-charge. I’ve read about high-brow ($$$) watches being charged once or even twice a day… that’s a non-starter for me. I keep the big and responsive screen at about 15% brightness but it is on auto-brightness so you can see it out in the sun. GPS seems accurate after looking at the maps of my walks in the app… start an outside workout, tap start and give it 15 seconds or so to catch the GPS signal, the phone vibrates and you’re off. Works everytime. I pretty much take the watch’s word for it as far as heart rate, steps, calories and the rest of the fitness and health features. I have nothing to compare it to so works for me. The description says includes wifi but it isn’t anything you can use like you might think or turn on or off as you please… might just be for transferring music to the watch. With just the companion Zepp app on your phone, you can make and answer phone calls with the watch’s built-in microphone and speaker. And you can reply to text messages either with an emoji or from a selection of pre-set responses that you can edit or add to (you make/edit these using the Zepp app on your phone, they’re syncronized to the watch, and the responses appear on your watch when you tap reply to a text). Works great. You can’t create a text with the watch (maybe thru Alexa, not sure). There’s a little app store in the Zepp phone app (maybe 20 apps), where you can download small apps to the watch (stocks, calculator, etc.). I am an Alexa newbie but it also works fine. Set-up is a bit clunky using the manual and Zepp app but after going through the process a couple times it works. We don’t have anything else Alexa in the house so still figuring out what to do with her besides weather, lists, etc.I’m still using the supplied brown band… not sure if it’s really leather but it is comfy and looks good. I was worried most about the large size of the watch with my skinny wrists, but it looks ok even with a separate cover that adds a couple mm to the overall size. I had a cover over the whole watch before I ever turned it on, so I can’t comment on scratch resistance and such. I immediately cover all my devices and screens and there are several protection options on Amazon. By the way it can be worn on the right wrist, too, by swapping the band around and settings to flip the screen and buttons. Easy peezy. I’ve loaded over 200 MP3s to the watch and have over 1G memory left. It connects perfectly to my cheap bluetooth ear buds and so far stays connected. The watch comes with about five or six watch faces pre-installed, but through the Zepp app on your phone you can download more. A lot of them cost a couple bucks but I can’t count the free ones. Loading a new face onto your watch takes a couple of taps and it’s installed and active on your watch. I’ve downloaded one of the several separate phone apps just for Amazfit faces and it offers hundreds more for free and works great. I can’t imagine anyone wanting more free watch faces, they just don’t all come pre-installed on the watch. Nor should they, taking up memory space. Delete and download new faces as you feel the need for change.On the negative side I have yet to get the offline voice commands to do anything. These are built-in voice commands that let you speak to open apps and control some watch features. They are separate from talking to Alexa, which works fine for me. I haven’t really sought a solution yet because it’s just too easy to get to everything on the watch by swiping or rotating the crown button. The Zepp app does use a good chunk of phone memory… whenever I check it is using between 600 and 800MB of internal storage. Could be alot for some phones and I’ve no idea if the app can be moved to external phone storage. Hopefully it can. I recommend keeping an open mind when reading some of the negative reviews based on one or two features out of the 50 things the watch does (like 1-star reviews because the customer doesn’t like having to use the rotating crown to navigate the display, or couldn’t get an old watch’s face on this new watch, or too hard to install watch faces (no… it’s super easy), or one feature it doesn’t even advertise it can do but it “should” do… I don’t understand one-star reviews like that). Overall it’s a great smart watch value with a long list of useful features.UPDATEAfter I had the watch for weeks I learned there are watchfaces with tap-able/shortcut spots on them, that’ll take you directly to different apps in the watch… steps, weather, heart, alarms, etc.And, if you tap on the city name in the weather app you can select other cities that are in the weather section of the Zepp app on your phone. I have had the AmazFit GT3 Pro watch for a month now, and I must say I’m impressed. I had a very inexpensive watch before which began going wonky, prompting the upgrade. I tried three other watches which just didn’t work properly. The AmazFit Zepp OS is based on Google WearOS, but has been pared down and changed. The best apps are pre-installed while there are extension apps available. Unlike problems I had with WearOS and other watches, this one has never disconnected from the app or my iPhone. I love the large OLED dial which can be made quite bright, and is very easy to read. The steps, sleep, breathing, heart rate are all quite accurate. I opted to get a different metal bracelet because I prefer them to leather/silicone. The battery is phenomenal–lasting well over a week with everything on 24-hour monitoring. A full recharge takes under 2 hours. All-in-all, a great watch.

Can go for a week or more without recharge, with many GPS tracks.- GPS accuracy is good (not as good as with GPS correction, but good compare to other commercial GPS). Almost never loses the sync with satellites.The only drawback is, the heart rate monitoring is not always accurate. Sometimes it jumps to too low or too high values. For example. shows 170 then goes back to 150 (which is the correct one). Or, shows 90 then goes to 130 (the correct one). Not sure why it happens. I noticed that during the winter it tends to jump to higher numbers. Is it an effect of colder temperature?

Update…watch has been returned. Even though there is a lot to love about this watch, the sleep tracking and heart rate is all over the place. It says I slept 38 minutes one night and only a couple hours the other night. My daily average heart rate is way higher than usual for the days I wore it as compared to my apple watch. Nothing has changed drastically during the times I wore it vs other days, so I know it’s not life stressors. The main reason I have a smart watch is heart rate and exercise tracking and steps. This watch tracked the steps fine, but the rest of it. Not so much.I’ll update this in the future, but for now, here’s my thoughts.I’m coming from an apple watch SE. I had way too many issues with the workouts constantly pausing, which was the main reason I had the watch. I don’t respond to texts or take phone calls on my watch, and I had very few apps installed on it. After all the troubleshooting and trying to remedy the issue, I decided to shelve the watch and look for a different fitness tracking watch.Tons of videos, reviews, comparisons, lead me to Amazfit. I was nearly sold on the GTR4 or the TREX2, but I like the look of the GTR3 Pro Ltd. Edition the most. I was admittedly gunshy about the mixed reviews on heartrate tracking, which for the apple watch was solid.I decided to take a shot on this one and see for myself. So far, so good. Heartrate is about on par with the apple watch, and best of all, when I start a workout, the watch doesn’t randomly auto-pause all the time.The Zepp app is pretty nice as well, tons of watch faces you could never get on an apple watch; although many are .99 or 1.99, which is fine. They have a decent selection of free ones too.The sleep tracking, we’ll see how it does over time but I like the features of it already built in.I did order some new watch bands, as the black leather one it came with was nice, but I like sport bands most of the time.The watch is beautiful, fits my wrist great, not too heavy, and as you get used to it’s functions, I’m quite happy so far.We’ll see how it performs in the coming weeks and months, but fingers crossed we have a winner here.To the Devs…why do so many of the watch faces have both digital time and traditional clock hands…just pick one or let us remove the digital time from the classic faces.
