We’ve covered a number of Garmin watches, from their runners watches to their hiking watches to their boating watches. But Garmin has also released a number of golfers watches, the legendary Garmin Approach line. Well there’s a new addition to the Approach line, the Garmin Approach S4. The Approach S4 promises to keep up with Garmins quality Approach line, while offering a number of new features that should be great for golfers.
One of the biggest improvements to the Approach line is the new high resolution display. This screen, like its predecessor, is a touch screen. Another improvement over the Approach S3 is the fact that the battery will last up to 10 hours on a single charge, and wearers will have the ability to access data from over 30,000 golf courses around the world. This is over 3,000 more golf courses than the Approach S3. Not only that, but the Approach S3 looks to be competing with smartwatches, now including a Smart Notification feature, allowing users to get notifications about emails, texts, and so on, directly from their iPhone.
Not only does the Approach S4 feature a number of great new features, but it also has many of the features that golfers know and love from the Approach S3. One example of that is the great score keeping feature, with the ability to use scorecards directly from your watch. Not only that, but the watch will give you data about exactly how far you are from the green, and it will allow you to save custom yardage points anywhere you want on the course.
From your Approach S4, you can also use Green View to see the shape and layout of the green. While viewing this, you can pick up and manually move the pin, which is especially handy, for example on a par 3 hole. This way you can dial in the distances you will need to cover.
The Garmin Approach S4 is simply and classy, yet very comprehensive in features. It is waterproof up to 10 meters, so if you fall in a lake you will be covered. The screen is also glove friendly, so you won’t have to take off your gloves every time you want to use the touchscreen. The design of the watch is also quite intuitive, including the use of a dedicated Green View button, allowing you to always be able to see the shape and size of the green. Furthermore, you will no longer have to pay subscription fees, as the watch comes preloaded with the 30,000 aforementioned courses.
The Garmin Approach S4 will set you back $349, which seems like a lot, but it just might help you win a whole lot more.
