Fitness bands are a dime a dozen these days, and they all seem to have many of the same features. Heart beat tracking, steps take, and so on, are all features that are regularly found in most fitness trackers. And many of these trackers have dedicated apps on your smartphone for them. But what if you like one trackers app, but want to use a different tracker? Well, that’s a problem that the creators of the Angel Sensor, Seraphim Sense, are trying to get rid of.
The idea behind the Angel Sensor is that it’s open. What does that mean? Well basically it means that anyone with a bit of developing knowledge can make an app for it. Essentially, the Angel Sensor is the fitness tracker for developers.
Now, it would be easy to think that this would lead to a bunch of apps that pretty much did the same thing. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. The Angel Sensor could provide data for an app that senses for heart attacks, or for a a traditional fitness tracking app for working out. The possibilities are endless.
The tracker itself can track a number of things, including the wearers heart rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen, and a number of physical activity attributes, such as calories burned, steps taken and so on. While really these things are not too different from most other fitness trackers, it’s what people could do with the data that’s special.
The Angel Sensor also supports Bluetooth 4.0, which is the power saving version of Bluetooth. It supports both iOS and Android, making it even more versatile for developers.
If you want to use the Angel Sensor but aren’t a developer, the device does come with a number of “foundation apps” to get you started. Not only that, but there are a number of apps currently on the app store that are compatible with the Angel Sensor.
The Angel Sensor is currently undergoing an Indiegogo campaign, and have already reached their goal of $100,000. You can donate to the campaign if you want your own Angel Sensor when it becomes available! If you are a developer, this is certainly a device to have a look at. The possibilities for it are endless, and it could even help save lives!
