Introducing the Emopulse Smile Smartwatch / Smartphone. Smartwatches are  all the rage right now, rumors of an iWatch are coming out all the time, and new watches are being released by tech giants every couple of weeks. One smartwatch to keep an eye on is the Emopulse Smile, which has just recently gone on pre-order, and looks very interesting indeed.

Emopulse is marketing the Smile as the worlds first Smartphone that wraps around the wearers wrist, and the features of the device are as such. The idea behind the device is that it is all your devices in one. It’s your phone, your entertainment device, your gaming system, personal assistant, and so on. And of course, it’s your watch.

As mentioned before, the device is made to be all your devices in one. In fact it even includes a whopping three cameras. You did in fact read that right, and I didn’t make a typo. Three cameras are included on the Emopulse Smile. The first one is the equivalent to a front facing camera on a smartphone, being used primarily for things like Skype. The second camera is the equivalent to the rear camera on a smartphone, being used to take higher quality pictures and videos. The third camera is an interesting idea, and is the latest addition by Emopulse to the watch. The third cameras purpose is to be used as a pointer for barcodes, hyperlinks, and so on. All you have to do is simply point the camera in the direction of the hyperlink, and it will take you to the address. this is a very interesting addition to the watch indeed.

The connectivity of the device is also pretty high-tech. Firstly, the device is WiFi capable, which is expected. On top of that, the Emopulse Smile is also NFC capable, which is not so expected, and allows the device to be used for things like a digital wallet, or electronic lock opener. For those of you who want to listen to music, the Emopulse Smile does not include a headphone jack, so you will have to use wireless headphones that are compatible with PurePath technology, which is supposed to be a lot better quality than Bluetooth.  Of course, you can also physically connect to your computer through USB, and the Emopulse Smile uses USB 3.0 to achieve this. The device also includes a nano-SIM card slot, so you can use it as a smartphone as well.

Another very interesting feature about the Emopulse Smile is that it learns from you. Emopulse gives the example of buying someone flowers using the device. The first time you do it, you will be given a list of online flower places. The second time, you can choose to have it automatically purchase the flowers using the details from your previous purchase.

The software behind the Smile is a custom version of Linux which is designed to learn more each time you use it. The screen is made from still experimental flexible displays, and they are in full OLED color, and is one of the first of its kind.

The Emopulse Smile promises to be a huge product in smartwatch technology. That is, if they pull it all off. They do claim to have working prototypes, but we will have to wait until October to see it for ourselves. If you want to pre-order one, you can do so from the Emopulse Smile Indiegogo, and the product runs for $480 for a 128GB version or $550 for a 256GB model.
