NuPathe looks to be the first company to win the “electronic headache reliever” race with their Zelrix anti-migraine patch. How does it work? it’s a single-use patch that relies on a mild electrical current to “actively transport” the anti-migraine drug sumatriptan through the skin using a process called iontophoresis. The company says this will eliminate nausea and other bad feelings that comes with oral use of the medication.
The patch is not available yet but the company has stated that it is getting further along in the FDA review process. The company has indicated the review process will be finished by August, 2011. Now when will they do this with Xanax?!
