If you follow the world of cutting edge technology, the words haptic feedback probably come up a lot. What in the heck is haptic feedback and how will it improve your life in the years to come? Essentially, haptic feedback, also known as tactile feedback, is a technology’s ability to emulate “feel.” This means, for instance, if you are looking to push buttons on your smartphone, you’ll actually feel grooves or buttons on what otherwise would be just a flat screen. The tech sure has some lofty promises to live up to. Imagine a world where all of our touchscreens could “transform” into whatever we wanted them to be. That future may be a ways off, but here is a nice first step.
Introducing iMotion, which is not made by Apple no matter how much they’d like you to think so. This handheld device is essentially a glove that tricks your hand into thinking it is pushing, pulling or doing whatever else the application or game you are using wants you to think. It’s certainly promising tech and is compatible with PC, consoles and even phones and tablets. For even more VR goodness, it can pair up with Oculus Rift so you can truly feel as though you are in the game. Nothing says immersion like fake, haptic-feedback created buttons!
Of course, being as how this is virtually untested tech(in its current form) you can’t rush out to the store and buy one of these things(the clerk will probably just think you are referring to some Apple device.) You have to cruise on down to their Kickstarter and give it the old college try by donating $117 to get in on the ground floor. That’s not a bad price for all of that tech.
