Reading is great. Science tells us it straightens our brains out and keeps us “informed” about “current events.” However, exercise is also great. Science tells us it straightens our abs and keeps us “fit” for “prospective mates.” There is only so much time in a day and its not like we can create a life for ourselves that includes both reading and exercise. What are we supposed to do? It’s not like we can read as we jog, right? We’d experience extreme bouts of nausea and thats no good unless we are reading Sartre’s Nausea. Hold your horses. There may be a solution to this age old problem.
A company called Weartrons is prepping something they are calling the Run-n-Read. Sure, it may sound auspiciously like that childhood toy the Speak-n-Spell but we assure you it is totally different. This device quite literally allows you to have your cake and eat it too, providing your cake is an e-book and eating it actually means jogging while reading it. It’s a device that stabilizes e-book(and tablet) text so you can run to your hearts content without any of that aforementioned nausea. Nobody likes vomit on their treadmill.
Speaking of treadmills, this device is only for use on a treadmill. It’s a stand of sorts that doubles with a headband that keeps track of what you’ve read and even turns the pages when you are done with one. They haven’t announced a release date for this item and it’s not even fully funded yet. They’ve turned to Kickstarter to get some money from you know who(us.) You can secure one for yourself by pledging just $55.
