I have been using the Polar Beat free application with the H9 for the past couple of months. The user experience was so incredible I thought I would get more into running this summer with a proper watch. I was about to buy the Vantage V until I saw this product announced. The battery is fantastic and doesn’t kill my phone like beat with GPS, the Heart Rate is almost as good as my chest strap and I love a lot of the new features. The weather watch face is killer, komoot route mapping, and nutritional guidance (proteins, fats, carbs) is fantastic. I cant wait to put a lot more miles on this thing!!

BUY THIS WATCH! At the start of the quarantine, I decided to take my physical fitness a bit more seriously(again). Instead of dusting off my old Garmin Fenix 5, I decided to take a look at what is the latest and greatest on the market. My old watch was big and chunky and I hardly understood any of the features that it had. The Grit X has so many easy to understand features that I have been using since I put it on. The highlights so far:1) The GPS is rock solid, even going in/out of tunnels it still keeps track of pace/location etc.2) Battery life is outstanding – I have had it for five days already using it for about 4 hours and still have 50% battery.3) Navigation options – I love the options of adding Komoot/Strava Live segments to the watch – I don’t have to worry about getting lost on some of my longer runs4) DETAILS! – On one run I was able to get HR, pace, distance, power, cadence, Hill Splitter (just to name a few). For the calories burned, you are able to see a breakdown of Carbs/Protein/Fat to help better understand recovery. The wrist based HR was spot on which was a relief and was consistent throughout my runs.Still looking forward to unlocking more on this watch, but it has definitely been a big motivator so far!

As a competitive Crossfit athlete and mountain climber, I’m looking for the best gear that will give me an edge in both. The Polar Grit X, so far, is proving to fit the bill.Aesthetically it’s a great piece. I’ve taken to wearing it all the time, and the battery life is great. Once a week charge and I’m good to go.One of the challenges I face with my two preferred sports is that Crossfit is very glycolytic (carb) intensive, and peak bagging is much more oxidative. Balancing these two nutrition demands for different training days and events is hard. I’ve been playing with the Fuelwise feature on the watch and it’s really insightful. With the current state of the world, I haven’t been able to put the hillsplitter feature to the test yet, but I’m looking forward to tracking performance on hill repeats as well as long climbs. It has all the features of my Polar Vantage that have been great for my training…with the added outdoor features as well. And it’s a Polar, so the HR monitoring is the best I’ve found.I’m looking forward to this year’s training and results and the additional insights gleaned from my new Polar Grit X.

The main feature of Grit that attracts me was battery life. However, when I received it, I figured out that many other features are making my life more comfortable as well—for example – buttons. Grit comes with four buttons – lock/light, back, forward, and start/stop exercise. It is enough to use the watch without the touch screen.I used to follow training benefits via the Polar Flow app, but with Grit, I have them on the screen as well. Synchronization to polar flow app done in the background, I do not need to do manual sync after each set of exercises.Sleep tracking functionality is fantastic as usual; however it seems that pulse sensors hardware got changed ( if you compare them to Ignite ).Overall I would highly recommend Grit X, which is a highly durable and good looking watch.

The Grit X is the perfect combination of functionality, battery life, and weight. As a trail runner, mountain biker, and ski mountaineer, I have struggled to find a product that blends these three characteristics appropriately until now.My priorities are:1. Accurate GPS tracking and elevation2. Battery Life (minimum 40 hours activity tracking)3. Accurate Heart Rate4. Lightweight & DurableThe Grit X excels in all of these categories. Its wrist based heart rate is the best I have experienced, and is tightly aligned with my chest strap measurements. The GPS tracking and elevation was flawless even when running in the Boulder foothills where many GPS units struggle due to the proximity to steep slabs and cliff faces. Battery life has proven to be excellent, and it is much lighter than all of its competitors with similar battery life. It is light enough that you do not experience any wrist bruising when riding technical mountain bike trails, yet durable enough to not be concerned about taking it on a fourth or fifth class scramble. When you combine this with all of the standard Polar Heart Rate features, Hill Splitter, Fueling Reminders and Komoot Navigation support features, it is truly the product segment leader. You will be extremely pleased with your purchase of the Polar Grit X!

I am a recent convert to Ultrarunning. And until now, I haven’t had a GPS watch suitable for the types of events I am training for. I’ve had tried many GPS watches over the years in my previous life as a Triathlete and Ultra-distance cyclist, and I’m constantly drawn back to Polar products for several reasons. And the Grit X is no exception. I was nervous before purchasing because I thought the watch would be bulky and heavy, like many of its competitors. That is not the case. This watch is so light, yet so durable. I don’t know how they did it! I haven’t taken it off since it first arrived. It’s so light, and with the bonus of being able to track my sleep and nightly stats, I’m not sure I’ll ever take it off! Also, battery life is unbelievable. I am excited by the prospect of competing in my first 24+ hour race without the concern of losing my data due to a flat battery. There are so many features that I haven’t taken advantage of yet – I can’t wait to dig in and use this device to its full capacity. I would definitely recommend it!

I have been a huge fan of Polar products for years. My previous watch, the Polar M430, was an excellent little watch, excellent HR accuracy, incredible battery life, the only thing missing was that it lacked a little in styling! With the Grit X Polar have done exactly the opposite! It’s a great looking watch with loads of great features and easy to navigate. The one problem…………THE OPTICAL HEART RATE SENSOR IS USELESS!!!! I have tried THREE of these watches now and they have all performed the same……….they appeared to work perfectly for 24-48hrs then suddenly began reading ludicrously high HR’s. The picture attached shows heart rates upwards of 140bpm at rest and even when I’m ASLEEP!!!! I compared it with my M430 and H10 chest sensor and both the M430 and H10 were perfectly synced and within 2-3 beats of my actual HR. The Grit X was out by up to 80bpm!!!!The first watch I purchased direct from Polar and they refused to allow it to be returned and I had to fight them over 4 weeks and threaten legal action before they would allow me to return it. The second and third were from Amazon and performed equally badly but thankfully Amazon’s returns policy is faultless. The main selling point for Polar is the accuracy of their HR sensors and for almost £400 (with an allegedly superior optical HR sensor) I expected better accuracy than with the M430 (£130). Unfortunately without this all of the other features of the Grit X are useless!!!!I’ll be sticking with the M430 until Polar create a better product!

The primary requirement of a GPS device is to track my location, distance, and pace. This device fails at that. And it fails in crazy ways.Today, I ran a 16 mile trail run. At the end of the run, the Grit X showed that I ran 4.93 miles. It was failing in the first mile. I had good GPS reception, so I have no idea why this would happen. The device actually did track the entire route, heart rate, elevation changes, etc., but the distance and pace were completely wrong. This is the second run in three runs where the device has failed. I ended up tracking today’s run on my iPhone, and it had no problem tracking. The other night, I left the device to charge all night. When I woke up, the Polar Flow app and the device were showing that I hit 503% of my activity goal. Again, it was on the charger all night. When I reviewed the heart rate data, it was fluctuating all over the place between 120 bpm and 175 bpm all night long.I did reach out to Polar on both issues, but I have not heard back from them. However, I’ve been running for almost a decade and a half, and I’ve used many GPS units. I’ve never had one fail so badly. It is not a good sign for this product. I need my devices to do the bare minimum, at least: track my route, distance, heart rate, and pace. If you can’t do that with an almost $500 device (with tax), it is a complete fail. Possibly Polar can fix it, but how could they ship a device this flawed to begin with? Maybe this is a defective one. I don’t know, and I don’t have time to figure it out. It’s very disappointing, but this device is being returned.UPDATE: It has been three weeks, and Polar still have not responded to my two support requests. I’ve checked my Junk folder and anywhere else the email could end up. They have not responded. I understand we are living through a global pandemic, so maybe they are short-staffed. But Polar decided to release this device in May, in the middle of the pandemic, so they should have support available (working from home, I hope) for this brand new device. But they do not.I’m not sure why there are so many positive reviews for this device when my experience was so bad. However, if you plug this Amazon product page URL into the website fakespot dot com, you’ll see that it gets a low rating (a “D” at the time of this writing) in regards to legitimate reviews. So, if you are still interested in this device, be prepared to be frustrated. But more importantly, check the return policy and order it. I don’t recommend it, but maybe you will have a better experience. My experience was very bad. It was the worst device I have ever tried in my 12 years of running long distances and mountain biking on road and trails (mostly trails).
