Quick summary: 4.7 stars, for great features and operation, at the cost of battery life (fixable)—–I’ve been waiting for years to upgrade my LG Urbane. I knew that watches with the latest Qualcomm processor were coming, and was patiently holding out for them. Finally, they are here! This watch is almost perfect. It has all the features I had been hoping for – smooth operation, great screen with auto brightness, impressive waterproofing, and NFC payments. I haven’t tested the waterproofing, but the rest of those items deliver as promised. I am especially enjoying the NFC payments! The auto-brightness works well, with the sunlight booster making it easy to use in bright, direct sunlight. It has a speaker, but I usually disable sound on the watch because that’s part of the reason why I wear it – discreet notifications. But it’s there if and when you want it. You can even take phone call audio on the watch, though I haven’t tested that yet. I’m not sure if the watch microphone works with phone calls, but if the watch and phone mic are both on then things might get a little weird for the other person. It has the usual Google Fit features, and has the ability to monitor your heartbeat all day in the background. I thought that was a neat feature, until I found out what it did to my battery life. I don’t think the watch could survive for 12 hours with this enabled. Fortunately, it’s not a must-have feature for me, so I disabled it and just take my heart rate specifically when I want it.That brings me to the only downside of this watch. The battery has a hard time keeping up with all the cool stuff the watch can do. Fortunately, you can do something about that. If you’re like me, you can go through all the settings and disable things you don’t need or care about, like background heart monitoring, tilt-to-wake and “OK Google” listening. Those things have extended the battery life to a point where it can make it through a full day with about 1/4 life left when I go to bed.If you don’t want to turn off features individually, there are a few battery saver modes that should work for you. I feel like they disable a little too much for daily use, but they would be great for short trips without a charger. The watch also has quick charging, so if you’re running low and you have your charger handy it won’t take long to get it charged up. I heard it takes an hour to go from zero to full, but I haven’t tested this.Physically, the watch is noticeably lighter than my Urbane, making it more comfortable to wear. I found the black silicone version to be the most comfortable, but I purchased the stainless steel version for the looks. Bands are 22mm and easily changeable, especially if you stay with Fossil brand.I like the three side buttons a lot! The middle one performs the standard Wear OS functions, but it has a rotating crown that scrolls the screen up and down. I didn’t know this, and was happily surprised when I figured it out! The other two buttons are assignable to whichever apps you want, another great feature. I assigned Google Pay to the top and Settings to the bottom.Overall, this is the watch I was waiting for, and I bought one a few days after it was released. I highly recommend it if you’re in the market, as there’s nothing better out there in the Android Wear space.

I have only had it for less than 24 hours and barely used it. It’s my first smart watch so I am new to this. It seems slower than I would like but then again I am still learning how to use it. Mine came with just the USB charger and not a wall charger. Also, it had about 5GB as opposed to the advertised 8GB..just food for thought… I’m still undecided on if I’m going to keep or return it. I actually bought this for the GPS & NFC capability so will see how that works out. Its a little bigger than I expected but nothing ridiculously weird looking. So far, looks good, feels good and will update later on if it works well too.UpdateI think it is important to mention that if you buy the blush pink strap, it WILL get dirty. Mine got dirty on day 2 with minimal use. Very important to know this before buying. I just ordered replacement straps from other suppliers…no biggie for me … As I had planned on ordering them anyway..1 month updateSo one month into use and I have come to realize one of the main reasons I bought the watch, which is to use the phone feature on it, does not actually work well. The person on the other end sounds gibberish at best. Rather disappointing as I had hoped to carry convos on this piece. On the other hand, the NFC feature works great and I have been able to use it relentlessly while shopping on several occasions. Side-eyeing my friend’s smartwatch on which she can carry convos easily lol. Oh well..you can’t really have it all now…can you?

The Good:-Easy to set up and pair and sync with my iPhone 8 Plus-Large display for easy readability-Fast processor and good amount of RAM-Tracks steps and heart rate-Stylish-Tons of customizations through Google Wear iOS app-Long battery life, easily gets a whole day-Speaker is quite loud-Went for a swim with it and no issues-Good valueThe Bad:-NoneThe Bottom Line:I have an Apple Watch also but this Fossil Gen 5 Carlyle watch running Google Wear OS is getting very close. I’ve been wearing this watch for the last 2 weeks and it’s fantastic. It is stylish and does everything my Apple Watch does. I haven’t had any issues using my iPhone 8 Plus and using this watch. It syncs fine and I can customize the watch how I want (watch faces, buttons, etc.) The watch is definitely “swimproof” as I’ve gone for a swim with it and no issues. The display is large and very legible. The speaker is quite loud on this watch and surprised me the first time I heard the Google assistant. The main issue I’ve had with other Google watches is they are sometimes extremely slow. This Fossill Gen 5 watch has solved that problem, there’s no lag most likely because they’re doubled the RAM amount. Overall, I would recommend this Fossil Gen 5 Carlyle watch for it’s performance and style.*If you found my review helpful, please let Amazon know by clicking the helpful button below!**Disclosure: I received a sample product from the Amazon Vine program for an honest and unbiased review.

This smartwatch is awesome. I’ve only had it for 2 days now and it has by far exceeded my expectations. It is really fast. Battery life is perfect for my life style. I can’t find a fault in this watch. It is perfect in my opinion. If you are debating on this watch and the ticwatch pro, definitely go with this one. The ticwatch is slow, buggy and laggy. I had it for a week and it was miserable. The fossil gen 5 watch might be extra money but it is more then worth it. The Apple watch finally has a worthy competitor. Very well done fossil! You did a fantastic job with this watch. Keep up the amazing work!!

First off, this is a men’s watch. It definitely shouldn’t be marketed at women’s.Secondly, I own over 20 smart watches, and only work them on Android phones. This watch checks off everything I need in a smart watch.1. Reply to texts and emails with ease2. Speaker3. Make calls from watch while phone is nearby charging4. Text from watch5. Can swim with it6. Different battery choices. Custom us the best7. No lag8. Swap bands 22mm9. Easily can read fonts10. Change watch faces with watchmaker app11. Can work from watch reading and responding to work related matter while phone is in other room.12. Fitness choices to choose from13. Heart rate monitoringThe only negative is the 1 day battery life. Maybe 1. 5 days. But the charger is super fast and I keep it in my bag for work all the time. Fossil finally stepped up with this Gen 5 compared to previous generations. Very happy, and Wear OS works great on this watch.

This is my first ever smart watch and I absolutely adore it already. Fast, smart and easy to use. So many ways to use just one little watch on your wrist! The strap that comes with it is a little confusing to adjust. But no worries, you have to be 10% smarter than the strap.

decent battery life, comfortable, not perfect, but a noticeable improvement over earlier generations.

Good quality. Rubber band is unattractive. I would prefer a larger face but the watch is light and comfortable. Not pleased with the stock watch faces. The speaker and microphone work very well which is why I bought it. Top features and rated highly. I don’t use the health features.

Looks stylish! Very functional and customizable! Had a couple issues with battery life the first day, but once I figured out which apps I wasn’t using I turned them off if deleted them and now I can go two days without charging. All my notifications go to my watch so I never have to pull my phone out of my pocket. Plus, there are many watch faces to choose from and each one can be customized. I love this watch!

I’m an Apple guy and if Apple made a round faced smartwatch I would have definitely have bought it. That said, I really like this watch. It’s what I’d image a round face Apple Watch would look like. Works great and has all the features you need in a smartwatch.

Fossil gen5 CarlyleHR is a good Smartwatch which is operated by WearOS. I think it is the best Android smartwatch you can get in the market. Its battery life can up to a full day which is good. The price is fair too.

Brand new in wrap. Name brand Fossil smart watch, shipped quickly and received early. Lots of functions, great battery life. Take the watch off the charger at 6am and still + charge left at midnight under average use. Under retail price. Very happy!

The watch is good definitely recommend. The only thing thats an issue is with Google not having as much support for their OS like Samsung and Apple but it’s still a really cool watch that does what I need

Have been using it for about a week now, and I love it better and better by the day. Battery consumption is good, charging is needed about every 30-36 hours when using all the functions needed for my daily use. The watch is beautiful, robust and swimming resistant, and it doest look like a smartwatch but looks like any other fashion mechanical watch. Highly recommended.
