First of all, let me say these things look great and the display is absolutely spectacular. Now for the bad news, on the first one I got the HDMI input died after 10 minutes. Everything else still worked, but no HDMI. Not much use without that. On the second one I got the whole unit died after 1/2 hour of watching a movie. No power, zip, zilch, nada. This is after charging up the battery for 4 hours. So what can you say, 2 out of 2 bad, quality control is lacking on these units. Can’t recommend these even though the displays are spectacular.

I wanted to love this video headset but, it was obviously released for sale before all the problems were worked out. The imaging system, though sharp and clear, needs to be improved: The only way I could view the entire field was to look straight ahead. It was impossible to read menu items- or anything, really- near the edges or corners. This headset is unusable for computer-based tasks which require a clear and useful rendering of text and graphic elements near the edges/corners. Also, the 720p resolution can’t reproduce fine details, and there was some chromatic fringing near the edges of the FOV. Although the manufacturer must certainly be aware of these problems- and what it will take to produce the next generation of this interesting product, I’ll offer my suggestions: 1) Increase display size and resolution; 2) Improve the optics to eliminate color fringing and distortion at the edges of the FOV 3) Be clear in your promotional materials if the system can’t be used for productivity, i.e, Design, Word Processing, Photo work with Photoshop, etc… I personally wouldn’t buy these for just watching movies. Although, I tried to watch a movie after deciding I’d probably send it back, and I gave up after after 10 minutes.Final thoughts: I spent a LONG time looking for the suggested app for my computer, and it was nowhere to be found. It seemed obvious that support for this product was abandoned by its manufacturer, probably in 2016. That was VERY frustrating! I also spent more than an hour adjusting and re-adjusting the pupillary spacing, Left and Right eye focus, headset elevation, head strap tension, various nosepieces, etc. My eyes need virtually no correction, so that wasn’t the problem. I gave this product 2 stars because, although the product is clearly not ready for release, the display technology shows great promise- although changing the basic problems with it will be expensive and challenging.

Amazing! This is the future of entertainment. I got it mainly for gaming, playstation 3 and xbox one. It’s like really being in the game. If you want to have a life changing experience get these and play “No Mans Sky” in first person view. Just absolutely breathtaking. The quality of the graphics and sound make it very realistic. It can be really addicting. One of the best things i’ve ever bought. Get one and watch how amazing playing games and watching videos becomes.Pros:Incredible Video QualityFantastic SoundProfessional Grade DesignCons:Adjusting the eyes and nose piece to fit just right. I am a gamer.I am also married.My wife often wants me in the same room as her regardless of what she is watching.I don’t watch TV anymore so my solution was putting a monitor on a chair and hooking up my PS4 or Xbox to it and game with head phones.After watching the movie ready player one, I was wondering if we had advanced enough to have some thing similar.We have.Most products are 300 dollars plus.These were not as expensive.The quality is not 1080PHowever for a gamer’s solution it is greatThey charged while I was gaming (USB Port on PS4)They have decent quality for the price and my range of vision was good.They are a bit heavy, and my nose got some tired but not unbearable.Have not tested the battery life, my next step so I did not put a rating.Hooked it up to my iPhone with the lightning to HDMI adapter and watched Netflix, worked flawlessly.Hooked it up to a computer and it worked flawlessly with soundWonder how it would look with a phone connected to a drone!!Anyway, practical use as a monitor is good.Quality could be some better but for the price, im not complaining.Being able to ride a train or plain and use these give a great level of privacy.You will have to adapt to the eye pieces, at first it looks like your looking through binoculars.This was my Christmas present from my wife, for any tech who has it all… Try these.-Shaun Striet

I like the Avegant Glyph for several reasons. Those reasons are:1- It’s lightweight. It’s very lightweight and comfortable to wear specially if you compare it to other head mounted devices out there.2- There aren’t a ton of cables. You can simply plug in the mini HDMI to HDMI and that’s that. Some other head mounted devices require that you connect a small box with the headset.3- It does the job for what I need it for. I use it as a monitor a lot. It’s comfortable enough to wear for hours. The picture quality is really good for the price. I had a higher end head mounted device with better picture quality but the weight on my head was just too much.4- Battery life. Great battery life. It lasts for about 4 hours, and it charges pretty fast when connected to the computer via its USB port. Sometimes I use it and charge it at the same time and it doesn’t overhead or anything. That was a big selling point for me because I have an oculus rift and thought of getting an oculus go, but the oculus go’s battery life is of only 2.5 hours. The Glyph surprised me with its battery life.The one thing I didn’t like much was the sound quality. It’s fine when you have something playing or when you’re playing a game, but if it’s not playing any audio you can hear a constant background noise coming from the headset. It doesn’t bother me that much, but I know other head mounted devices that don’t have that problem.Still, of all the head mounted devices I own this is the one I use the most, it’s comfortable, easy to set up, and has a very decent picture quality.

Pros:-Sturdy design-Good picture quality (with qualifiers). 1280×720 is the max resolution, but it’s a very clear 1280×720-There was no “screen door” effect that I could notice-Decent soundCons:-Lenses are FAR too small. Should have been 25% – 50% larger-Unacceptably poor viewing angle. When looking straight through the lenses, the focal point is at the top of the screen, notthe center.-No way to adjust the screen position to center it on the lens focus point.-No built in brightness adjustment.

If you read reviews of these they usually say the experience can’t really be communicated without using one. That’s not true at all. Take a 13″ laptop, set the resolution to 720p, place it arm’s length. Now take a piece of black paper and put a small hole in it. Hold it in front of your eye so you can see most of the screen but the edges are cut off by the hole. Now have a friend go on the laptop and start randomly changing the brightness while also shaking the paper you are looking through. Do this all with a 1lb weight sitting on your head. You have simulated the experience. Google cardboard provides a much better experience. The virtual boy provides a better experience.Best thing I can say is the headphones sound great, but are uncomfortable and heavy so you can’t even use this as headphones.

The pair I received unfortunately flickered every couple of seconds from white to yellow-ish, then back to white. I tried it on my PS4 Pro, MacBook Air (2020), and iPad Pro (2020). It worked seamlessly on all three and the video quality looked great! The sound quality was even better! I also tried the 3D-SDS mode it has (Side by Side video format) and it was awesome! But the flickering really made me nauseous so I ended up returning them.On their website they state that these are not “full immersive experience” and they are correct – although the headphones do cancel out most of the noise, the “visors” or lenses section don’t necessarily cover your entire field of view. It allows you to look up/down and see what’s going on around you. The screen that it puts in front of your eyes is also not much different than looking at my iPad Pro from a sitting position on the bed (with the iPad on my lap). I suppose this product would be an incredible buy at its price point if it was fully immersive or offered virtual reality, like the Google Cardboard app.I also tried to pawn this off on my teenage son and he was so excited to use it until he too noticed the flickering and it bugged him as well, he insists I buy another one for him, but I think I’ll wait for the next version.As always, shipping was incredibly fast and packaging was great!
