Last year, I was very unprepared for hiking on trails in the winter. I knew I needed a solution for this year and I can say with 100% honesty that these are the best purchase I could have made to help me feel more stable and confident on icy surfaces.I finally put them to use up in VT this weekend. As of right now, most of the trails around me are covered in snow and ice and I normally would never try to hike them. Especially with a dog who loves to chase after rabbits, chipmunks, and every smell she smells. However, with these cleats, I felt 95% confident going downhill on ice and 98% confident going uphill. They aren’t foolproof. They sometimes didn’t keep me from slipping in steeper areas (both downhill and uphill), but they still helped a lot! Much less slipping if I hadn’t had them on.I will be wearing these on icy trails forever more! They are perfect for what I needed!

Only reason I gave these a four star instead of a five, if you don’t put them on really good they can fly off and hit someone in the face.. it wasn’t good. They do a great job walking in snow and on ice just make sure they are good on your shoe.. when it’s cold they are harder to put on. You don’t want to put them on in your home – it could mark up your floor. So have a chair out side your front door to put your shoes on. You want the traks on your shoes before you put put your shoes on. – I do this and they are great – I have fallen yet wearing these and I fall a lot.. lol

These were great while walking the dog. She loves to walk in the snow which means I’m either in snow or on the icy path keeping up with her. I took a star off because while I was wearing them, I tripped up a slope that had chunky ice & a piece of the tracker snapped off & couldn’t be fixed.I did order another pair & am hoping they last longer than a month. They are meant for the ice,so I’m really not sure why they’d snap on rocky/chunky ice.

I’m in the PNW and when it snows the temperatures float around 32ºF so there’s LOTS of ice. I bought theses back during “Snowmageddon 2021” without realizing all mail/delivery trucks were impacted lol. However we’ve continued to get freezing temperatures in the late-winter and these Yak Traks have been such a game changer! We had thick ice a few weeks ago and, while my car was stuck and the roads were to icy to drive, I could walk to the store securely and confidently! They’re awkward on indoor terrain (as you’d expect) but are super simple to put on and take off. Huge recommend if you have to walk through ice!

Read previous reviews before buying and they mentioned to size up if near the top of the “sizing chart”. So bought a medium instead of a small. Work great! I’ve got them over my winter boots and hiking boots. Have worn for walking the dog on icy streets with no issues. Have also taken them out on the frozen lake ice fishing on glare ice you get a little wiggle when stepping but never “slipped” so guessing it’s the metal squishing under your boot. Love how easy and straightforward these are to put on and off. Highly recommend!

I’d resisted getting these – I’ve lived in a lot of snowy cities and unless/until I get out for some serious hiking I didn’t imagine I would really need them despite co-workers talking about wearing them for dog walks and walking commutes to work… Then… late winter/early spring brought a melt/refreeze cycle and I could no longer even walk in my own back yard. Once I put these on my boots (which is SO easy!), I could walk around as if there was no ice when I could barely stand in the yard without them. Warning – they are treacherous on tile floor since it’s a hard surface and they have nothing to grab on to. Put them on as you head out the door vs when you have to walk indoors if you can!

I purchased these as a replacement as my first pair, after 6 years of use and a bit of abuse, finally snapped a band and coil on the bottom. These are must haves in our Midwest winters. They are lightweight, fit over boots or shoes easily, and most importantly provide excellent traction. Although it is recommended to remove them when indoors, they are stable and non slip if I need to walk on the garage or barn concrete floors. And because they are easy to put on and take off I use them whenever I anticipate icy walking away from home such as icy store parking lots. It is easy to just step inside the door at the grocery store and slide these off.

These work really well in packed snow and ice and fit easily onto shoes and boots. In my view they are best suited for gentle wandering about, and not for a long trek – if that is your need buy something more robust (and much more expensive). Two notes of caution – be careful when going inside as they really slip on hard shiny floors, and tear carpets to pieces (mind you – they’re not designed to be worn inside either)! The second, is to make sure that they are on your shoes properly, as otherwise they can come off and get lost in the snow – I know, I lost one! Neither of these issue would prevent me buying them again.

Brilliant product. Well made and fits well. Used in the recent icy weather and made me feel very secure. Would thoroughly recommend.

I was skeptical about these, but OMG they work! As a kid, I once slipped on some icy stairs and bonked the back of my head, resulting in a trip to the ER. I was fine, just a bump on the old noggin. But my mother and the doctor decided to play a joke on me: The doctor came into the room with my chart, looked at it, and said, “I’m afraid we’re going to have to amputate.” Little kid me fully panicked…and I’ve had a ridiculous fear of walking on ice ever since. I’ve got it bad, for real. These things changed my life. I keep them in a ziplock bag in my backpack all winter. Just having them with me relieves my ice anxieties. I live in Michigan, so ice storms can happen without warning for more than half the year. Having Yaktrax in my bag has saved me so many times. Get some!

For the past few years my hiking boots have been enough to stop me from slipping on a little ice, but this winter has been super icy so far, and I have had two falls despite the hiking boots. I ordered one of these for my partner (M) and one for myself (S). You barely notice the ice with these on, we certainly have not had any slips since we put them on. I only took one star off the “value for money” because there are other similar products for half the price, but I don’t know if they work as well or not.

these were excellent in the snow and ice this year, bought for a friend as I already had some. they will last a long time. I’ve had mine 4 years already. you can wear on shoes that have a slight heel too (I wouldn’t try with more than a 1 inch heel)
