I love this backpack. My wife and I travel a lot and she never remembers to charge her phone. The backpack is roomy and high quality, and the battery pack and solar panels work great. Will definitely be ordering from Voltaic again.Update: The battery can’t hold a charge at all. When asked, the company told me that the battery is working fine, the display just doesn’t update. I’ve tested it several times now. On a full charge, the battery lasts approx. 30 minutes charging a cell phone.

Took it on a 10 day trip through Dublin, Paris, and Rome. it was great to always be able be full charged on my mobile devices when you are in a country that has different voltage. It is big compartments with lots of versatility. The only two problems were that because of the big compartment my wife liked to hand me everything to carry. The second problem was that it is so cool I was being stopped everywhere by people to ask me questions about it and tell me how cool it was. Of course the added difficulty was in these conversations a lot of the conversations were not in my primary language. To me this bag is like the luggage crates belonging to Tom Hanks’s character in the move “Joe vs the Volcano”. Google it. Seriously I will take this back pack on any trip as it is worth it.

I bought this backpack a month ago and some I revived it I’m using it on my daily basis. I made a trip to Canada and brought it during the stay and everybody es asking me questions where to get it, so be aware it makes a lot of conversation. It looks very well build, it’s very roomy also and not that heavy when you carry it for long walks. I live in Florida so solar exposition is easy down here and even my colleagues are getting interesting on it. I’m a filed service engineer on a Diagnostic company and I use a lot of devices that drain a lot of power and the battery V72 has been working very well. Like the products from this company so I decided to buy also their “Switch” bag, and will upgrade the main battery that comes with it (V15) for a bigger one (V44). Will review it also once I put my hands on it. BTW: I contacted the customer support from Voltaic through e-mail with some questions and they were fast and reliable on their responses so I know we can count on them for support, thx for that!

I’ve had it just under a year, and basically it does what it’s supposed to do; albeit clumsily. It is not as well made as I you’d expect for the money. IT’S HUGE AND CLUMSY. I mean – it’s REALLY BIG. And in urban environments, or indoors, you will be constantly bumping into people and things.I should have trusted my instincts. I wanted the most powerful back pack I could find, and this was it at the time. The design looked weird, but I thought, maybe this is some new revolutionary design, that I will understand when I get it. IT’S NOT. It’s just as unwieldy as it looks. It’s like walking around with a giant box strapped to your back, even when it’s empty. The minute I got it, I thought the zippers looked flimsy – and I was right. The top zipper broke within 3 months, and middle zipper just broke a few weeks ago. IT IS NOT GOOD FOR DAILY USE OR IN URBAN ENVIRONMENTSI did not realize when I purchased it that it had to be in DIRECT SUNLIGHT to charge. Living in an apartment with no secure outdoor space, I’ve never had the opportunity to charge it exclusively from the sun. So I don’t know if it would work off the grid or in an emergency as it’s intended. I plug it in to charge it at night, and maintain the charge walking around outside during the day. So far I have never run out of juice. And I’m a heavy user; I use my devices for work, videos and gaming, etc. It’s got this weird design flaw; it tilts back at an angle towards the solar panels / away from your back. So when you’re not wearing it / set it down, it tends to tip over and fall on the on the panels. The 2nd day I had it, I went for a walk in the park. I set it down on park bench and it tipped over. The panels were scratched immediately. I don’t know if that has affected it’s ability to charge from the sun. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU SET IT DOWN. You need to brace it so it doesn’t fall, or lie it on it’s back. The most obvious design flaw: getting your devices in and out of it is very difficult. If I’m charging my phone on the go; and I get a call, I have to take off the entire back pack off and unzip this weird side pouch. By the time you do all this, you have a missed call. The only solution I found, was to leave the pouch unzipped and hope my $1000 IPhone doesn’t fall out or get stollen. Why they didn’t provide an opening that allows you to plug in your phone without putting it inside the back pack is beyond me. They made all these waterproof opening for wires inside, sooooooooo…….I guess it’s great when you go swimming with it?That said, It has served that purpose. I tend to work in cafes and restaurants and I got it because I wanted to never again worry about my device running out of juice. It has done that; if clumsily.

  5. Nikolai Yamaner

This is a $300.00 backpack and I was shocked at the low quality materials used. I have had no issue with the solar components, but I just can’t get past the low quality fabric used inside the bag and the lack of quality padding on the straps and rear of the bag. First off, I had the zippers break as soon as I tried to open the bag as there are no metal pull tabs only string. Second, the padding and straps are rough and irritating to the skin even through clothing. Third, the bag needs another compartment with storage with better places to put lose small items in pouches. Fourth, the side pouch for charging seems like and afterthought and is not streamlined with the rest of the design of the bag.The seller really needs to take a look at bags that sell for this cost and revaluate the materials they use. I would of paid more just to have a bad that I knew would hold the test of time. Instead I got a cheap dollar store backpack with a $300 solar panel attached. Really unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to using this regularly.

  6. Ahuewave

Peace, I enjoyed the look and the idea although it is a bit of a disappointment in the build quality as the panel screws became undone and are lost and the charge does take a very long time, also wish it was water proof on bottom and pockets. although it works and I got so many looks while traveling especially in China ha
