The dizzying myriad of Amazfit smartwatches continues, and the company has fully announced two new devices we’ve been expecting: the Amazfit GTS 2 Mini and Amazfit Pop Pro.
Both these devices are follow-ups to recent launches. The Amazfit GTS 2 and Amazfit Pop (also called Bip U in India) launched last month.
And as if we needed MORE choice from Amazfit, these two sub-brands give consumers even more options.
Amazfit Pop Pro
The Amazfit Pop Pro is essentially the same as the Amazfit Pop (Bip U) but adds GPS, for those who want the accurate tracking of outdoor workouts.
That means you still get the same 1.43-inch TFT display, 50 meter water resistance and 9 day battery life. You get the PAI score health monitoring and 60+ workout profiles.
The key thing here is price. The Amazfit Pop Pro costs ¥399, which works out to around $60 – so only slightly more than the standard Pop at ¥349 ($52).
It sits in the price band of the existing Amazfit Bip S ($79) once taxes and importing has been added. If it ever makes it West, this could be the smartwatch we see replace the Bip S in the US and EU – but there’s no sign of that.
Amazfit GTS 2 Mini
And we also finally got a proper look at the Amazfit GTS 2 Mini, which the company has teased twice ahead of launch.
Instead of adding features, this takes some away from Amazfit’s flagship GTS 2.
The display size has shrunk to 1.55-inch from 1.65-inch (now 354 x 306 with a 301 PPI density), and the reduced case size means the battery is downsized too. Amazfit says the Mini will last 7 days is heavy use, which is around half the estimate of the GTS 2.
It has the same BioTracker 2.0 PPG sensor with SpO2 tracking and stress features as the larger GTS 2, which is somewhat of a surprise. If you turn those on for maximum data, we’d only expect a couple of days.
Price is the key factor here. The GTS 2 jumped in price over the original, and ended up in the US at £179.99. Only Chinese pricing has been confirmed so far at ¥699, which is about $100. For context, the GTS 2 launched at ¥999 ($140). However, Huami has confirmed to Android Authority that the GTS 2 Mini will be globally available.
