The HabitAware Keen is an Awareness Tracker to break bad habits
The HabitAware Keen is a Smart Awareness Tracker wearable device smart bracelet to help retrain your brain. It brings awareness to unwanted behaviors so YOU can take control. The way it works is that you first train Keen to the specific behavior you’d like to stop, like hair pulling, skin picking, nail biting, or thumb sucking. Training is setup using the iOS or Android app and takes less than 30 seconds. Keen will now watch for your trained motion and, when detected, send you a gentle vibration which will help you build awareness muscles and take control of the unwanted behavior.
- Build Awareness: train Keen for your unwanted behavior and its patented technology will make you aware via vibration so you can take control. Add up to 4 areas, adjust the detection rate, set vibration strength, choose from 2 styles
- Track your patterns: push Keen’s button to track your behavior and sync to the app to see patterns and progress
- Stop Unwanted Behaviors: Stop your Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling) / Dermatillomania (Skin Picking) today!
- Ditch the phone: Keen’s gesture detection tech is right on the bracelet – Perfect for parents supporting kids on this journey to awareness

I’m loving this band! I was diagnosed with Trichotillomania in 2011 after going through an emotionally traumatic marriage and divorce. I am getting remarried to an amazing man in 2019 and really hope to no longer have bald spots coming wedding day. Have had the band for a week and seeing my daily logs has been crazy! I really feel this product is going to be a life changer!!! The band alerts within 2 to 5 seconds of me having my hand in my hair and starting to pull. Will be posting a follow up review with progress photos of the area where i pull my hair as i feel strongly that this band is going to be the end of my troubles with pulling!

I purchased Keen to help my cousin’s 11-year-old son who picks at his scalp and pulls his hair. I wanted to help him so badly as this had been going on for 5 years. He was at the point where he wanted to stop too. They had a little trouble at first with the settings – he was getting a lot of false alarms and it became annoying for him. They contacted the company for help and had a free video chat with them where they helped them reprogram the Keen. It was so much better! They also talked to him about how he had to put in effort too – that Keen wasn’t a magic wand. After a few weeks with the new settings, my cousin reported that he pulled and picked less and less. His hair grew back in and his scalp got healthier. And the best part was he started to be able to have a normal childhood! He can go to sleepovers and swimming parties and camps and not worry about the other kids making fun of him – all the things he avoided for so many years. He’s so much happier. It’s wonderful to see my cousin’s child feeling normal and happy!

I got this because it was recommended to me by a friend who also picks his skin who said it helped him a lot. It’s only been a few days but so far it’s making a huge difference! The app was super easy to use. I trained it for the two areas where I pick and so far it catches my hand when I start to pick. I was nervous that my co-workers would hear it going off, but the buzz is really quiet so no one else notices! it’s just enough for me to become aware and move my hand away. I’m really happy that I went ahead and bought this.

I cannot say enough positive things about this device AND the support from HabitAware! I purchased this for my 13 year old with ADHD and non-verbal motor tics. He developed the tic of pulling his hair, but it wasn’t obvious to me until a relative pointed out the bald spot. He and I researched options together and landed on the Keen because (a) it does not require constant connection to phone and (b) it looks as unobtrusive as any fitness tracker on the wrist. It took no time at all to “train” the device to recognize the unwanted behavior, and within a couple of weeks, my son started to recognize his behavior on his own and stop without prompting from the device. When we had questions, both before and after purchase, the support from HabitAware has been top notch – I’ve had my emails answered very fast every time, and the support provided has been just terrific. I highly recommend this device!

I chewed my nails for a long time. Usually it happened when I was watching TV, sitting in the classroom, doing homework, and now when I’m at work at my desk or in meetings. I heard about Keen and checked into it and saw it could help with nail biting so I ordered it. The app was simple to use. I used it to program Keen to look for my nail biting when I’m sitting up as if I am at my desk, and when I’m laying down, which is how I watch TV. It took a few days to zero in on the right sensitivity settings in the app, but I got them down and am really happy with the accuracy. Nearly every time my hand is near my mouth Keen vibrates to let me know I need to stop. Truth be told I did get frustrated when I was eating because it would sometimes vibrate then too, but I found out there was a sleep setting I can use to basically turn it off when I’m eating. That’s helped tremendously and I’m happy with it overall. A great find and worth the purchase!

I’ve pulled the hair from my beard for many years, resulting in embarrassing bald patches whenever I grew it out. I went online and found Keen in one of my searches so I decided to give it a try. I wear it when I’m at work as I mostly pull at my beard when I’m in front of my computer. Since wearing Keen pulling has literally become less fun. It’s like my brain has decided that pulling my beard isn’t worth getting that vibration, so my brain is telling my hand to stop. There’s a button on Keen you can use to track your pulling episodes and then you can see the data in the app. I’ve been challenging myself to reduce my pulling episodes by using this tracking mechanism. Any day I reach a new low count is a big win. I really like having a beard so it’s nice not to have to shave to cover up the bald spots anymore. Bottom line is Keen does exactly what it’s supposed to – makes me aware so I can stop pulling. 5 stars.

It makes me aware!I’ve been pulling my hair for nearly 40 years. I went to doctors for help but some of them didn’t even know what “trichotillomania” was and didn’t know how to help me. Others gave me suggestions that didn’t help. I tried CBT, which worked once in a while for very short periods of time. Then I found Keen and I had this feeling inside me that it would help. I have a very big milestone birthday coming up and I want to finally have a full head of hair. After just a few weeks of having Keen the regrowth of my hair was incredible. Then I hit a slump due to extreme stress. I got a little depressed because I was thinking Keen wasn’t helping. But I reminded myself that Keen alone can’t stop my behavior – I have to! I wore my Keen with a new enthusiasm and when I felt the vibration I made myself change my behavior. My hair was getting thicker and longer. Now sometimes I don’t even have to wear my Keen because it has made me aware of my behavior and I feel I’m in control. Keen is my safety blanket and I wear it when I know I need it. My birthday is coming up quickly and thanks to Keen I’m going to make my goal! I’m so very happy!
