6 Reviews for Soundcore Life A1 Earbuds

  1. Panicfrog

Really love these. First of all and most importantly is the sound quality, and it ticks the box there. I’m not one to go into waffling about professional standard sound, just want something that is easy on the ear and clear, and this definitely is. There is a noticeable difference between the music and podcast modes, which is good, and the volume/skip/play/pause buttons are easy to figure out and use. In terms of noise isolation, already been shouted at by the boss for not replying, so that works! In terms of fit, they’re very discreet, and no wires is a blessing. They stay in the ear easily, and feel secure even when moving around and running. The ‘ear wings’ (rubber sticky out bits) keep them in without being uncomfortable. The ear tips were a little uncomfortable, but a change to the smaller size ones that come in the box sorted that out.For charging, the case uses a USB-C lead and charged pretty quickly during the afternoon whilst at work. The buds clip in and out easily (a magnet fits them in the right place) and they switch on and connect to the phone automatically and pretty quickly with no problems, which has been a nice feature compared to having switch others on/off.As for the case, it’s a good size, fits in a jeans pocket without being noticeable.Overall, really pleased with the purchase, they sound good, are discrete and secure in the ear and easy to carry around with no wires.

My main issue with these headphones is you need to click twice to pause, instead of the usual once, and 3 times on the right headphone to skip the song which very often doesn’t actually work at all.The volume of these headphones isn’t as expected and I am rather dissapointed with my purchase. Admitaly the bass and sound quality is better than my previous £20 set of wireless in-ear headphones but not enough to warrant the price difference.I have rather small ears and they are very uncomfortable, after half an hour of wearing them they begin to hurt. I don’t know what they are like with larger ears but even with the smaller ear buds I wouldn’t recommend these if you have got small ears. The one upside is the battery life which so far is rather good, one charge lasts a significant amount of time and they are quick to charge.Overall not fantastic for the price.

Here’s some things I like about these earbuds.1) My ears are a bit larger than average, so I can’t wear must other earbuds. But these come with airwings of different sizes. They fit perfectly and they’re comfortable. I can even sleep while wearing them without discomfort.2) These earbuds have infinite volume control. The last pair I owned had about 10 volume levels so I couldn’t dial it in to where I wanted, especially problematic for going to sleep.3) Wireless charging. This increases the lifespan of the product because the charge port doesn’t wear out. And it’s super convenient!4) To turn them on just take them out of the case. I have good manual dexterity, but it’s still awkward to manipulate those tiny buttons.

Historically, I have had the misfortune of not being able to find earbuds that stay in my ears while I doing things like golfing. I don’t like the variety that has me placing a piece behind my ear either, as those also do not stay in place well, and/or provide less sound isolation as the earbud portion slips out of my ear. I have used (and lost) an expensive pair of Bose, and I didn’t want to spend that much again. I’ve tried and either returned or given away more than a few that didn’t work for me. So I researched options and narrowed my search down to earbuds with long battery life, contained ‘wings’ (as I grew to understand the term), as well as Qi wireless charging. I stumbled upon this pair by Anker. I am so pleased I did. The sound quality is stunning for a pair of earbuds under $100. Excellent bass response, great sound isolation, touch controls, etc. The materials and design feel high quality. I also love that I can drop them on my wireless charging pad to charge them. The only thing I would add to these are 1.) a pass-through function so I can hear a conversation well without taking the buds out, and 2.) the ability to pair with more than one device. I know other models contain this function, but not in this style/shape.Anker will now be my first point of research when it’s time to replace these.

I am a long-distance runner in all types of weather: cold, snow, rain, sun–everything. I love the Anker brand (wall USB charger and ergonomic computer mouse are awesome!) and I’ve had two sets of the Anker Bluetooth over-ear headphones that are connected to each other by a wire. My last set was starting to get worn and I contacted the Anker customer support to see if they are making them anymore, because I couldn’t find new ones on Amazon. Unfortunately, they stopped. They suggested these ear buds but I was very nervous to try ones that weren’t connected because I was sure they wouldn’t stay put. I ended up trying another brand but they weren’t right for me. So, I took the leap and tried these.I’m so glad I did. They have not fallen out of my ears. I have worn them under ear warmers (they don’t bother too much) and I just completed a 50K trail race in Mississippi and they stayed put. I did end up changing the inner ear piece to a smaller size because the larger size cut out too much ambient noise. I did not want noise-cancelling ear buds for safety purposes. These aren’t designed for that.I still have to remind myself how to use them–how many clicks and what ear to do them on to adjust volume, start/stop music, and forward, but that comes with time. I’ll also have to see how well they stay put in the summer when I have sunscreen on and sweat, but they seem like they’ll do okay. The only complaint is that the volume of the ringtone blasts in my ears even if the media I’m listening to is at the right level. It was painful.

After a few months of use this is my review…the sound is amazing! these set have no tuner app but has three different sound adjustments. The only downside is the rubber around each piece gets super flimsy after wear and comes off easily, It’s so annoying that I feel like sending them back for a new set… the price is on point. Again, the sound quality is superb for this price point…I highly recommend any Soundcore product!!

These earbuds are shockingly good given their cheap price-point, especially if you pick them up on sale. I think you’d have to spend 2-3x more to get something similarly featured that is actually better than these.Comes with a decent selection of ear wings and ear tips to help fit your ears. Sound quality is pretty good. Charging case supports usb-c and wireless charging, and it contains an internal battery that allows recharging on the go. There is some sort of magnet which holds the buds against the charging contacts, which ensures they are placed properly and keeps them from falling out of the case by accident. Battery life is supposed to be 9 hours per charge, but I haven’t used for more than a few hours continuously yet. Bluetooth pairing was painless. My only complaint is that the ear wings tend to slip a little bit when removing from the ear; when this happens it sometimes covers the charging contacts, so you have to adjust it before putting the bud back into the charging case or it won’t charge. This is a minor complaint and given the price point is forgivable.

So it’s taken me a while to write this review (despite the numerous prompts from Amazon) and this is mainly because I’ve gone through so many wireless headphones I really wanted to be SURE before writing this review .So here goes…Reason for purchase: Gym, and mainly running on the thread mill.Value for money: Good – considering build quality and lack of issues (to be specific I’ve had NONE thus far) , overall sound quality and reason for purchase – I’d say this was a sound investment, and cost effective.Durability: Really good. In your ears they’re light enough not to cause a nuisance, but heavy enough to know that if one (did) fall out your ear, you’d know about it.Battery life: I’m usually at the gym for about 1.5 hours, I think my longest run at the gym was 2hrs before I got the first prompt of “battery low”. (And that’s at playing music at a relatively high volume (I’d say typically at 85-90%)Some people may think 1.5-2hrs is not enough, but I only purchased these for gym use and not for phone calls, or long journeys outside; so as a result, it IS fit for purpose, and does me just fine.I usually keep them in the car and charge when not in use. I believe they auto switch off once fully charged. So far these wireless headphones have been durable, work all the time (I’ve had no issues with one side working and the other not), the case they charge in is fine – (be sure to see both charging lights light up before tucking away) and leaving to charge. The size adaptors fitted perfectly, I think they offer a couple of extra sizes in there if needed but I used the ones that were fitted on upon box opening and I’ve not felt the need to change them.Noise cancelling: I’m happy with the lack of outside noise, in fact I’d say I don’t notice any noise at all when at the gym and have them on. I’m often surprised when taking them out to talk to a (gym bro) about how loud the gym actually is, you literally zone out and only hear what you’re playing.Charging case: durable, does what it needs to do. Unfortunately there’s no written LED indicator determining what percentage of charge each earbud has, but there are a few LED lights on the charger that light up in 25% increments so you can have a good gage as to how much power is in them (both).Phone calls: I’ve only had a few phone calls and to be honest I had no issues, they were of course short (as I was at the gym) but the call was clear and the caller could hear me just fine.Button control: I know some of the fancier ones have touch controls which require a swipe or light tap to perform certain functions such as raising volume or answering calls. In truth I’ve owned a few like that and they are a nightmare (imo), they often skip unannounced, or are an even worse nightmare if you’re wearing a hood or cap, both of which can trigger a function command. I’ve also noted that sweat can also often affect touch control earbuds too – which has been extremely annoying when running. I say all of that to say this – with these the function changes require an actual click and physical push of the buttons on the earbuds, which I welcome as every action is therefore intentional and keeps things rudimentary but also simple – thereby allowing me to continue with my workout without the constant need rewind a track that has skipped inadvertently or having to re-raise the volume as it started reducing for no apparent reason.Obviously all controls can also be done directly via your phone as well. All in all – for the price paid, these are a worthwhile and sturdy investment. I don’t need the headphones to make or receive calls, but if necessary they have worked fine for short calls (which to all intense and purpose have taken place in a busy and noisy gym)Summary: Functional, fit for purpose for serious gym goers’ who don’t have time to keep stopping and starting because of fiddly touch earbuds. When having to work a 9-5 and fit gym sessions in the evening, then having to go back to your family, you learn quickly that EVERY MINUTE counts!AND YES – I’m sure there are higher priced “branded” earbuds which could provide the same “pro’s” however they likely will cost 3-4x more than these, and I’m guessing the reason we’re all on Amazon is bc we are trying to find good value for money without having to go “top-end”, and it is for this reason I have taken the time to wait and comprehensively USE the item before writing this review.Hope it works for you as it has for me!Happy shopping!

This is the second pair of ear buds I have purchased. The first pair was a different brand and I had issues yes with Bluetooth connectivity and sound was not great. I’m super pleased with these Soundcore, the fit is comfortable and secure I wear these for several hours at a time at work and home. The battery life is amazing I only charge them once during the week. The two things I like most about them is the improved sound quality over my last pair, big improvement for me it seems well balanced and clear. I haven’t even used the eq adjustment they have in there app. When changing volume, pause, forward/reverse ext I really like how you can feel the button in each of the ear buds. I hated the touch/ tap way on my old ones. The range on these via Bluetooth is great, connectivity was amazing way greater range than my first pair I had. If your looking for a great pair of earbuds at a great price dont pass these up.

  • // Q & A

When the earbuds are paired i notice the light flashes every few seconds. is this expected? if so, can i disable the lights from flashing when paired?

Yes, it is expected. We regret that you can not disable the lights from flashing when paired. Really appreciate you brought this matter to our great attention, and I have forwarded your information internally and hope it can be disabled in the future. You know, a perfect product requires several improvements per the customer's voice, and there is and always will be a "learning curve" whenever new products are brought to market.

can I use either earbud in single mode while the other one charges (that is, keep one always in ear and the other in the case, for continuous use)?

Yes, you can either the earbud in a single mode while the other one charges.

If using only one (left side), will it have both left and right side channels in one earbud?

Both can be used independently, and yes both (if used separately) will have both left and right audio

Do these have volume and Google Assistant control?

Yes, the Life A1 earbuds have volume and Google Assistant control. You can press either earbuds once to adjust the volume and hold left or right earbud for 1S to activate Google Assistant.

I understand that three consecutive clicks can change eq modes. how do i know which eq mode is being used?

I just bought them as well, there isn’t an indicator when pressing the headphone clicks three times to differentiate all three music profiles. One should indicate that there is more bass, but it’s hard to tell them apart since their isn’t a audio cue to tell you which one your using. This is something they need to fix
