It was too basic. I wanted a guide when my HR was in aerobic, anaerobic and limit.

I had the first generation of this monitor for several years and loved it! Unfortunately, when I moved I lost the charger. This is the second generation and I do like it. However, there’s one thing that I haven’t figured out. When I turn it on sometimes, after a few minutes it will stop recording my heart rate. I have it connected to my exercise bike. I then shut it off and restart it and it’s fine. It does not do this all of the time and seems to do it less after I recently charged it. I don’t know if there’s some setting that causes this or if it’s a fault with the monitor. I still like it because it’s easy to use and connects easily to exercise machine. However, I liked my old one better!

Easy to set up, easy to connect, comfortable to wear. Better accuracy than the chest-strap monitor I used previously. Very happy with this purchase!

My last Scosche heart rate monitor lasted 7 awesome years before the battery finally died a slow death. It worked great but I needed a replacement so I got a new one.I’m not impressed with the strap nor the hooks which connect to the unit to hold it on your arm.- I always used my Scosche monitor on my wrist because it slips down from my forearm when I ride aggressively. This strap is too long to permit that and the wearer must wear it on their forearm.- Because wearers must slide it up their forearm, it’s difficult to get the tension right and as you see in other reviews, this causes breakage in the units strap pins.- The strap has hooks on each end which easily fall off the strap making it so your heart rate monitor is 2 parts, probably leading to them being separated or lost.- Performance of the unit seem pretty consistent but I can’t attest to its accuracy of course but it seems ok.It gives me real-time feedback on my bike computer to tell me if I’m working hard or slacking during training rides. The most important part is that it works, transmitting my heart rate to my computer but the strap issues are a bother to me.I may improvise a strap that works more like my last Scosche because this is intolerable.I hope the designers are reading this.Update: As you see in the new image, the heart rate drops to around 80, which is obviously a glitch that causes me to question the accuracy of the device. That’s not cool.

I ordered two! They’re perfect and work amazingly.

Somewhat tricky to get working since you need to go to your phone’s app store and choose the right app to download from several. Then, I found that the display on the phone app displayed only two digits, so a pulse of 108 displays as ’10’ for example. That said, it seems accurate and rugged. With some software fixes in the app, it would shine.

First one returned after about 2 weeks. Simply failed. Returned through Amazon. No issues with the return, but was disappointed and worried about the next one. The next one lasted 7 months, then failed right before a gravel bike race so I had no data during that race. Another disappointment. Chatted with tech support, which was convenient. Bottom line is I’m returning the second one (this time I pay to ship it out). When it works, it seems to work find. Sometimes on my rides the HR drops out and when I notice it, I reposition the band and can get it to come back. This happens outside mostly, and rarely when inside on the trainer. But, it works pretty good…. so if it would quit failing, I would give a good rating. I don’t like that the charger is exclusive to the product. Would be better if it used a universal charger.

I had this brand previously and loved it but stopped working. I was excited to get a newer version but sadly it has trouble staying connected so my heart rate flickers off & on. The strap is also a problem. It’s difficult to connect without pinching. My previous one had a Velcro strap that was perfect. I’m probably going to return it.

Pairs with my Apple Watch app to give constant and consistent heart rate. Huge improvement over the watch based heart rate monitor

I really love this product because it has solved the reliability issues I’ve been having with wrist-based watches. I was wearing two of them simultaneously (Garmina Forerunner 235 and Samsung Galaxy Fit2) during my runs, and I could observe the big differences; sometimes/days on, sometimes/days off probably due to movement or bad positioning due to tightness. The only agreement between them was when I was stationary. This product (btw, this review is for the second generation, Scosche Rhythm 2+ with the extended battery life), has been giving me readings consistent with my running, and the other products when stationary. I never liked chest straps, so this is just perfect for me being lightweight, practical, having excellent connectivity and battery life. The only issue I had was adjusting it to my upper arm; I just slide it up with the band closed, but it may feel a bit tight, and finer adjustment after you put it on is not possible. Still, once you’ve got a good fit, you’re set. I haven’t yet tested the stated 24h battery life, but overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

This is an edit to my original review and I think it’s important because I want to be fair. After more use I think this device is better than I originally suggested. It can give you a relatively accurate HR. I find that it doesn’t adjust as quickly as a chest strap to changes in pace. The real issue seems to be how far it can transmit. If you are using it for treadmill running, outdoor running or riding you bike with a stem mounted display, I think it will be just fine. When I am using it for indoor cycling training I find the bluetooth and ANT signal does not transmit far so I need to keep my laptop/tablet much closer than I normally would. I use an HRM every day and I have been using them for many years. For accuracy I prefer a chest strap. I am for recovering from heart surgery and the strap is super uncomfortable. I have a couple of garmin watches with HR but I know they are inaccurate. I watched some reviews of this product and thought I would give it a try. The ant+ comms is really bad. You have to be right on top of your antenna for it to work. Bluetooth is better but the data is inaccurate at least half the time. It is inexpensive and comfortable but if you need accurate hr data it’s not good enough.

This works great for me (light skinned white male with a light tan) wearing it on my upper forearm while running. It never peaks or drops when it shouldn’t and it picks up my heart rate change on intervals without delay (ramping up and download). Also had no issues connecting to either my Coros Pace 2 or Samsung Watch 4. I’ve compared against similar (same course and effort but at different times) runs with my Hammerhead chest strap and the graphs look the same (max, uphills, ..)The strap is great, it is a bit stretchy so I don’t have to have it tight to be secure. For those that care where it’s made, I went with the Scosche because it’s not made in China (it is made in the Philippines).
