Even though they are listed as being designed for newer JVC Projectors, these glasses do not have the horizontal polarization required for true compatibility. They are vertically polarized, just like most 3D glasses on the market. They do sync just fine, and work well otherwise. If your screen does not retain polarization, these glasses will work fine for you.In case your screen manufacturer does not publish polarization extinction values, how to tell if your screen is polarized: use a pair of standard polarized sunglasses. Look thru the glasses lens at the light coming from the projector (from many feet away, don’t fry your eyes!). Rotate the sunglasses, you should see a drastic shift in brightness of the projector’s light. If you do, now use the same sunglasses to view the JVC-projected image on your screen, and again rotate 90 degrees. If you see a shift in brightness and color, your screen retains polarization and these glasses will not work for you. If you see no difference on your screen, then these glasses will work just fine. My screen retains very little polarization, so I will keep them, the brightness is acceptable.Comparing these glasses to other third-party 3D glasses: * Pros: these glasses are sturdier and more comfortable than flat plastic glasses. They have 2 LED indicator colors and good placement, so are easier to work with. They sync quickly and work great. They are compatible with the 3rd-party BT/RF transmitter. * Neutral: once synced, these glasses work just as well as the brand I compared them to. No better, no worse. Same brightness, nearly identical colors, same amount of flicker and crosstalk (e.g. very little with my JVC RS500 dialed in). * Cons: a bit more pricey than the el-cheapo brand. If a horizontally-polarized version of these glasses was available, I would consider giving it 5 stars.

My review is for the “Black Heaven” 3D glasses by Hi-Shock. These glasses are my second pair of 3D glasses to use with my Epson 2040 projector. My first pair worked fine and they are from another manufacture. I wanted to see if I couldn’t find another pair that was perhaps not as dark as my current pair. The “Black Heaven” are just as dark as my other pair. I won’t say I’m disappointed, because I am not. It’s just the nature of 3D. If you don’t have a pair, or are in the market for a second pair, of 3D glasses then these I think will fit the bill! They are light (lighter than my other pair), they charge quick and I’ve had no issues with them. When I’m ready to get additional glasses, I will definitely look for the Hi-SHOCK brand.

The good: The glasses and lenses themselves are top-notch. They pair reliably and display no ghosting whatsoever. The field of view is really wide. You don’t get that “goggles strapped to my head, blocking out my peripheral vision,” feeling. They are light and comfortable enough to wear over prescription glasses. The not-so-good: I’ve had 2 pair break where the bow meets the frame. Both times they just bent right off as if they were made of butter. I’m really careful with these glasses too. Hi-Shock’s excellent warranty covers this breakage, but the delivery time from Europe was about 4 weeks! Hi-Shock has excellent customer service, but should ship replacements via a faster carrier. Also, my kids don’t find these so comfortable and refuse to watch 3D movies with me. Hi-Shock should make 3D glasses for kids!

I bought two pairs and they both work with the Epson 2040 projector. These glasses paired and synced quickly. The images are crisp and clear. The battery last quite a while. The battery barely went down less than 20% after 3 1/2 hrs of continuous viewing. There were no continuous flashing light like one of the reviewer stated. The glasses do get darker when they turn on.Here are a few things I wish they can improve upon. These glasses are definitely darker than the Epson RF 3d glasses. I wish they were a shade lighter to make viewing in ambient light more clear. There is a slight uneven curve on one of the glasses temple piece that shifted the lenses to side when you wear them. This could have been caused by the shipping process, as it does get very hot in those steel mail box under 100+ degree weather. Suggestion, aluminum pouches or something to protect the glasses from extreme heat so the plastic don’t bend. Last thing is I wish the charger was micro usb, instead of whatever this connection is.Final thoughts. I really like these glasses. They are affordable and they do their job with ease.
