6 Reviews for 3D Projector Glasses

  1. Lawrence H. Bulk

We have a home theater which has a 20-foot “throw” and a 110″ (16:9) screen. We recently purchased a new Epson Home Cinema 5050UBe 4K PRO-UHD 3LCD Projector which also features 3D playback in addition to 4K playback (you should see 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY [1968] IN 4k).As my wife and I have always enjoyed watching 3D movies (over the years we have attended several 3D theatrical showings), we needed to buy some 3D glasses as the projector did not come with any.We have tried several types available here on Amazon. The first pair we got were really uncomfortable though they worked well. The next ones were comfortable but they were a real “pain” to use as, due to the poor design of the on/off switch, they were difficult to turn on and off and, even worse, they would lose the 3D signal from time to time (often when switching from the 3D main feature to 3D extras). The next ones we bought SHOULD have been the best: they are fairly comfortable (at least for me), they function well in all regards, and they are the only ones that I can find here on Amazon that use disposable batteries. Why would we want that? Well, rechargeable devices have internal batteries which will eventually expire and there is generally no way to replace those batteries. Glasses that use replaceable disposable batteries will work well into the future.Unfortunately, though they are quite comfortable for me, my wife has a problem with them. She says they are unwearable for her as they badly hurt the bridge of her nose. After we watched a movie using them, I could easily see the deep mark these glasses left on her nose. (Though they are uncomfortable for her, they are fine with me and I just ordered a second set. I do not know for how long into the future active shutter 3D glasses will be made and I think that it’s better to have some extras, ones which will last well into the future.)Except for the fact that these under review here are of the rechargeable type (as noted I prefer those with disposable batteries), they are near perfect. They are VERY comfortable – by far the most comfortable pair we own – and the price is very reasonable (about $32.50 per pair).Even that would be no good if they didn’t function physically well. But they DO! They work as well as any of the other pairs we own (and much better than that second pair). The on/off switch is very well designed and these glasses do not turn off themselves if a 3D image is being displayed (even on when it’s on “pause” or when switching to extras). We find the image to be somewhat brighter than that obtained with any of our others. Now there is a trade-off for that brightness: sometimes (not often) you will see cross-talk (“ghosting”) in the 3D image which, with other, dimmer, glasses you will not see. [PLEASE SEE UPDATE BELOW]Last night we watched the movie THE WALK (2015) which is frightening enough in 2D (“flat”) but positively nerve-shattering in 3D. (Take my word for it: it’s much “worse” than any horror film I have ever seen, especially if you have problems with heights.)I could see a bit of “ghosting” in a few of the subtitles and a bit more elsewhere, especially in dark scenes. Now please understand that this “ghosting” was very minor and you’d have to be “picky” (as I am) to even notice it. But it was definitely there. Some day (not too soon; my nerves can’t stand it) I’ll watch this film again with a pair of my other glasses to see if the “ghosting” is still present.I’ll also be curious to watch DIAL M FOR MURDER (1954) in 3D using these glasses. This disc is noted for some bad “ghosting” (and it sure was apparent when we watched the movie using one of our earlier pairs). I would guess (though I do not know at present) that the “ghosting” will be somewhat worse with these glasses. Only time will tell …All in all, however, I’d much rather have a brighter picture than a darker one. 3D glasses at best allow transmission of about 37% of the available light from the screen. That’s about what they all CLAIM. But I believe that this one delivers. However, you yourself must make the decision as to which is more important to you: a somewhat darker picture with minimal or no ‘ghosting’ or a somewhat brighter picture with some more apparent ‘ghosting.’ (Admittedly ‘ghosting’ can be annoying.)Your choice. Please let me reiterate: we are using these glasses in conjunction with a video projector and a screen, not a 3D television. I cannot comment on how they would work with a 3D TV (and, in any case, to the best of my knowledge, no one is manufacturing 3D televisions any more). As my title stated, overall these are the best 3D glasses we own (and among the most reasonable priced) and I can VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to you.Thank you for reading this and for considering my opinions.Lawrence H. BulkUpdate December 17. 2020:By carefully re-reading the instruction manual of my Epson Home Cinema Video Projector Model 5050UB I found a small “tweak” in the settings which allows for almost complete elimination of the crosstalk (“ghosting”) problem. The other night, after adjusting the projector, we watched DIAL M FOR MURDER which is one of the more notorious 3D discs known for crosstalk. That crosstalk was almost completely eliminated. Therefore these glasses are even better for us than they were when I first reviewed them. They are currently unavailable. I do hope that the manufacturer will create another run of them and that Amazon will sell them again.

I purchased two new pairs of Genuine Epson ELPGS03 RF 3D Glasses before purchasing these G05 glasses. Although the discontinued Epson glasses were more expensive, I thought that the picture quality might be better with the Epson B/C of some negative reviews of these glasses. As it turned out, the batteries on both new pairs of Epson glasses were so bad that they could not hold a charge for even a few seconds. So, the 1st movie I watched with the Epson glasses, I had to have the charging coard hanging of of my nose in order for the Epson glasses to work! Although, despite that major inconvenience, the Epson glasses worked good.In the end, I opted to try these G05 3D glasses B/C having to use the Epson glasses with the charging coard running down the middle of my face was obnoxious. Now after using the G05 glasses, I am happy to report that the picture quality is the same! After lengthy testing, I could not tell a difference between the Epson, & the G05 3D glasses while watching a 3D movie.Note: I do recommend cleaning the lenses on the G05 glasses before use. The lenz protecting stickers left a residue on my G05 lenses that had to be cleaned off. The frame of the G05 glasses seemed sturdier than the Epson to me as well.

We like the glasses. Although the glasses run continuously when charged, as soon as you shut them off the batteries die quickly. You cannot reuse them the next day after they were fully charged. Otherwise, good product

A pretty good value for the money, considering you get 2 in the package. Comfortable for longer movies. Some slight mirroring in the periphery. My only real complaint is that it adds a slight blue tint to the image. Not super noticeable except on very white images. Unless you are looking for it, its not really going to effect viewing. Compared to the glasses that came with my sony TV, its a slightly darker image, but equal flickering which again, you mostly have to be looking for to notice.

I use them with my Epsom projector and I found them to be very well made and because the sides are solid it cuts out any stray light. The only down side (and it may be because of the shape of my nose) after watching a film they started to become uncomfortable. I like that they are rechargeable and the charge seems to be very good. Overall, great value for money.

These are great glasses. They work great and feel good to wear for the whole movie. There was an issue with one of the four pairs of glasses and the seller made it right without question. They had great communication and I received the replacement pair within a week. A+ seller!!!

Works great with my epson projector. Vivid picture and battery lasts long. Customer service is 10 stars. Will buy more glasses. (Have 4 currently)

I purchased six of these glasses. One of the glasses would not turn on after charging. I wrote to Elikliv, and they sent me a replacement pair immediately. These glasses work great, you do not get fatigued while watching 3D content and the battery life is fantastic! Would highly recommend this product and company

Bought these for my TX-P42 TV model, it does not work. However, well made, feel good and look quality. Shame I had to return this product as I liked them.

At first, we were ready to return these. We looked online and found out that you have to go into the settings in your 3d TV to adjust the glasses. They worked pretty well with our Sony tv after we made adjustments.

I lost the glasses that came with the TV (I think my wife threw them away!). These glasses seem equally as good and connected easily via bluetooth. Just a pity no more programs are made in the format but fine for watching DVD’s.

I don’t know if whatever is on the left lens is meant to be removed or not , I did remove the plastic on both lenses but what about the “C” shaped foil (?) .I have an EPSON HOME CINEMA 3800 . These glasses are no better than my EPSON glasses though they seem to have better arm joints than EPSON OR THE POORLY MADE Hi-SHOCK.
