They are pretty darn loud and would more likely work by scaring off a “bad guy” than by drawing attention for help from anyone very far off, and of course the ladies I bought them for would have to get in the habit of walking with a finger in the lanyard to use if needed, because they probably would not remember they had it or to use it under stress. But for my elderly mom to have to summon help if she were to fall in her yard, they are a pretty good idea.Just a little more peace of mind, these are pretty cheap insurance.They each worked just fine right out of the box, no problems.
