Wearable tech en mass  is coming, and depending on who you ask, it may just become a part of the daily lives of many of us. It can do a lot of things: give you unprecedented access to information about yourself, help you to get healthier and allow you express yourself in way you had not considered before. But, can it be considered art? Some artists are beginning to think so. The world of art, most likely taking inspiration both from the technical community and how the world of fashion has latched onto the new tech, is looking to make art you can truly wear.

The movement is known as “transhumanism” or “posthumanism,” depending on who you ask. The goal of the artist in this sphere, which is cross medium, is to try and figure out what it means to be human in the digital age. While some of the technology developed does have interesting medical applications, such as one eye piece that can change colors to sounds for the vision impaired, for now it is mostly about the art.
