When Google announced the Wear OS Fall Update back in October, it didn’t actually land on many smartwatches.
In fact, only the Suunto 7 actually got the love. But now the update is rolling out to Fossil watches, according to a Reddit mega-thread on r/Wear-OS.
Users of Fossil devices there are seeing the update – named the H MR2 – land on their watches. However, you have to manually check to see if Santa Google has brought you any new features this December.
Reddit members are reporting that Fossil Gen 5 series, Diesel Axial, Skagen Falster 3 and Emporio Armani Smartwatch 3 have all got the H MR2 update.
Obviously Fossil watches make up the lion’s share of the Wear OS devices on the market, but that does leave TicWatch users still running the April 2020 software – for now at least.
So what does the Fall Update bring?
Well, the new Tile limits are a big part of the user experience, as well as Cinema mode and the ability to disable the Google Assistant long-press functionality. And sleep stage tracking is also getting added to Google Fit.
What’s more, Google says users will see a 20% improvement in app loading time on the new Wear OS version.
And the update also brings the improvements to Tiles that were recently announced.
You can now have up to 10 tiles and Google has added new ones for Google Fit, breathwork exercises and weather.
