The KKCOBVR i2 IR illuminator infrared flood light is a must-have for VR enthusiasts who want to enjoy VR in the dark without disturbing others. Weighing only 6g, this lightweight device supports a 120° field of view, making it highly portable and easy to use. With two brightness settings, users can enjoy VR in a dark environment without worrying about disturbing others.
One of the standout features of the i2 IR light is its compatibility with the Meta Quest 2 PSVR2 and sensor tracking in the dark. The device reflects infrared light from all angles, filling the entire room and maintaining VR sensor sensitivity in the dark. It also has low power consumption and a type-c power supply port for charging, making it a cost-effective solution for VR enthusiasts.
The i2 infrared light is also highly versatile. It can be used with a battery head strap and can see VR while charging. Although it cannot display the power level of the head strap, it is still a great option for those who want to enjoy VR in the dark. The device is also lightweight and portable, allowing for normal use of external headphones. The package includes a type-c to type-c extension interface and type-c to USB adapter, making it easy to use with a variety of devices.

Seems to interrupt my Vive 3.0 trackers and cause slight tracking issues. Device worked alone though as long as the room wasn’t pitch black.I wish it was a little longer so it could peak past the front of the headset, as there is obvious dead zone for the right of the headset compared to the left.EDIT: I’ve purchased an IR Illuminator to mount to my wall and I have not had the same tracking issues using it. Not sure if the time I had with this product was an issue on my end, but seeing how this much more powerful illuminator isn’t causing problems, I thought i’d update my review. It does work and insanely well for how small it is, so I carry it with me while traveling, but haven’t had a chance to test again with my 3.0s.

So we have a baby in the house, and I’d like to be able to play VE close by her at night, but I also don’t want to have to light up the bedroom like we are landing a plane. That’s when I started to look into ways I could VR in the dark.I came across this and it works very well. It does seem to sap some battery life, but I have the Elite headset, and don’t play longer than 2 hour sessions.I have two complaints. One, it’s not the easiest to secure to the quest 2 headset. It really needs to snap in there. Two, connecting the elite headset cable to this device doesn’t let me raise the side well to put on and take off the headset. Neither are real breakers.A bonus is that when looking through the pass through, you essentially get a pair of night vision goggles.

This device essentially makes it possible to play VR in complete darkness well mostly. It is a bit finicky losing tracking occasionally but if you need to play in the dark for some reason this will probably be your best friend. Another useful application for this is night vision if you use passthrough on your quest you can see in complete darkness! Or rather your quest can but you’ll see through its eyes/lenses. Making it possible to sneak out in complete darkness to grab a snack or just have fun with it. It’s like having a flashlight attached to your head that only you can see the light produced by it which I suppose is exactly what it actually is. It’s not perfect but it’s cool to have. There’s also a plug in the back so you can still charge your quest with an external battery while having it attached. Although if you plan to use PCVR with a link cable you will have to take off the device to use it.

Overall impressed with this accessory. It is small and a little troublesome to take out of your Quest USB port, so I’m worried about breaking it or losing it. But it does work, had a few hours of gameplay with my Quest 2 passing a powerbank through the KKCOBVR device to charge my Quest at the same time. Mechanically simple and looks like I can disassemble it with a precision screwdriver to service the IR LED if it stops working!

Don’t expect it to be super bright thoughBut the power pass-through is superb feature

Bought this for the quest 2 and it did make a difference using in the evening time or without any lights on but I never really use it a night or with the lights switched off. It’s fairly overpriced for what it is,you can buy an inferred floor light cheaper and brighter.Anyway, seems like a decent gadget butLooks cool and comes with 2 adapters in the box.Works a treat and definitely recommend it for better tracking with low light.1 stars as it’s overpriced. The price has dropped,so has my review, nearly a fiver, tossers

Oculus/Meta or whatever brand name the Quest 2 has this week really should have included this simple ut incredibly effective solution to enhance hand tracking day and night and improve visibility when using pass-though. With a single button operation to turn on/off and switch between two brightness levels, this little addon is a must for those wanting to get the best out of the Quest 2 hand tracking functionality. One button press and there’s no more frustrations with adjusting your head and hands into uncomfortable positions to maintain control, no more tapping over and over to tap one virtual button, no more random random weapon changes in fps games etc.Whilst room mounted IR lamps are available, they’re often far too bright, require mains power or recharging and as restrict where you can hop into VR. This little gizmo simply plugs in directly to your headset USB port, uses hardly any precious battery resource and it goes where you go and shines an invisible light where it needs to… wherever you look. It’s rare anyone gets chance to write an honest review they can say that no matter what you use your VR headset for, adding this product is a no brainer.

This is so cute and awesome. It’s tiny, but mighty. I just plug mine into my quest 2 and I don’t really ever need to take it off. I charge my quest with it in place, and use it when I need. It gives me the ability to play anywhere. Any time of day or night. No loss of tracking. Even hand tracking works in pitch black. So if you have headphones, you can play completely undetected at night. You could even play Beat Saber next to someone sleeping. 😉 I highly recommend this item. It’s so tiny too.

I’m able to watch Netflix at night in bed next to hubby almost completely undetected thanks to this device! I say “almost” because it does have a little red light (necessary, you can’t cover it with tape) and the Oculus has it’s own dot of light or two but it’s WAY better than the light that illuminates from a TV, laptop, or tablet while someone is trying to sleep lol this awesome product may have just saved my 20+ year marriage! 😀

I bought this as it saved me putting on the main light in the room, as the quest 2 was sometimes losing tracking in a dimly lit room.I tried playing in a completely dark room and it was as if the room was well lit. Great small device wanted to buy another for my Pico 4, I have used it with that and it works fine with it to also. (unfortunately they have been out of stock with no indication of when they will be back in).For some reason it doesn’t work with the Quest Pro if you where thinking of picking one up for that

Really love the idea of having a conveniently mounted IR light on the headset. Much more convenient than hooking up an IR light in the room separately powered.Only shame is that it does not pass data, so my extended battery charge does not show in the headset and if I want to connect to PC I need to remove it first. I am trying to avoid using the only USB C port on the quest too much as to not wear it out, so I would have liked to leave it plugged in permanently.Overall I’m happy but this needs a version 2, it shouldn’t be that hard to pass through data and power.

This works pretty good. I do have to run the light at the highest setting of my quest says it is to dark. And make sure you don’t accidentally cover the light with something or you will defeat the purpose of having it in the first place. This also helps you by not shooting UV light at your eyes like other lights you have to face towards you to get them to work, I always bounced my UV light off the wall but that didn’t always work.

Helps vr see at night perfectly

I was initially disappointed as I frequently lost tracking until I realized after turning it on (long press), you tap the power button for full brightness, after that perfect tracking.I just played an hour of beat saber in the garage with no lights in pitch blackness, using passthrough could easily find my water, then just to really test things walked back to the house (no internal door to garage), locked the door, went upstairs and had a pee, all with no lights on. Now I don’t recommend you do that, but I wanted to test this out, and glad to say, it passed with flying colours. The only con is the price, but if you don’t mind paying the price, it really dose what it says on the tin.
