The Airtamer does not actually "filter" anything. It produces ions that add a charge to air particles. This causes them to be attracted to and attached to oppositely charged items, such as surrounding walls, furniture, etc. I see no reason why this should not work with spores or mold. Since it is a static type device, it is likely to be most effective if you are stationary for a period of time and there is not much air movement, such as in a church service, a movie theater, an airplane, or sitting and reading at home.

No, it is not defective. AirTamer uses a conductive cord (lanyard) to boost cleaning performance. This means that your body is used as a "ground" to increase the number of negative ions that are emitted from ion emitter brush. Some people occasionally feel a tingle from the lanyard when the air is particularly dry and the lanyard is on the skin of their neck. If you experience this, you have a couple of options: (1) Put the lanyard over your shirt/blouse, or (2) Rub some body lotion on the portion of the lanyard that touches your neck.
It doesn't filter anything per se. It works by releasing negatively charged ions into the air which in turn attach themselves to particles in the air. Those particles then negatively charged get drawn to surfaces around you like walls floors ceilings etc. The ions attach themselves to any particles in the air. I would think that would include chemicals in fragrances as well, although I can't confirm for sure.

I like this little gadget. I can’t know properly it’s wider effects against pathogens, but I can say that since I’ve been using it my allergic reactions have greatly reduced: post nasal drip when lying down. Fairly soon after purchasing so time might tell. But I will say I’m glad I have it by me.

I just returned from a hectic, 3-week trip to Japan that involved two int’l flights, 2 domestic flights, more than a dozen long trips on trains, several trams, subways and crowded areas – ALL made healthier by wearing my AirTamer purifier. I’d used the older, battery-operated AirTamer for 3 years, and *never* – not even once! – gotten sick on a long, international flight. By contrast, my husband would come home nearly every time with a cold that took 3 weeks to get over.I just bought this new, rechargeable AirTamer for the trip to Japan, thinking it’d be easier to recharge the device than have to run out for batteries. About 100 times during the trip I found myself saying, “THANK GOD I’ve got this on!” While many Japanese wear face masks in public, there are still those who are sick, coughing or sneezing unprotected on every single form of transportation there. I would even wear this device here in the States when traveling or being in places with lots of people contact. Why take a chance? If you have senior parents, chances are they are in assisted living. Great place to catch norovirus. Same for hospitals if you go to visit or need a medical app’t.This device is lightweight, non-intrusive and sure seems to work, as I just returned from yet another long trip & flight home without EVER having had even a scratchy throat. The key is to wear it in the presence of large crowds. The charge lasts about 160 hrs, so I’d only charge it up every few days on the trip – and only when I knew I’d be traveling in mobs of people.The only thing I found may be unique to me is that the cord it hangs on caused a slight rash on my neck. It seemed to prickle a bit when wearing it. I resolved that by laying it on top of a neck scarf. Yes, it works better with the cord on one’s neck, but for my own comfort, I had the scarf layered in between. I’m going to give my 93-yr-old mom my old battery AirTamer, cuz she is often in the presence of germs and viruses being active as well as exposed to frail seniors with health issues.

I have severe allergies and from what I can tell when I use it, it keeps the air clean where I don’t cough hardly or not at all depending on where I am at. I like that it is quiet and has no scent. I’ve only used it a short time. I rated the value for money 4 stars because you have competition that offers more for less. The question is what makes yours worth the $$$?

It actually does reduce particulate matter decently I tested it with a meter but it it is very expensive and stops taking a charge after a short period of time. I had my first one for only a couple months and it would no longer take a charge. I went through the warranty process and the same thing happened in a few month. If they made these things more durable it might be worth the price.

Can’t believe this little unit works so amazingly!!!I was at a bar for the superbowl with a group of people, one lady was coughing and of course I was right next to her. Out of the 6 people I was with, I was the only one that didn’t get sick.I was truly amazed by this and will never not use this in enclosed places with a lot of people.

Good sized, classy looking, weight is appropriate, quiet, but the lanyard doesn’t adequately keep the AT stable when walking. Also, as a few previous comments noted, the top does produce a weak shock when the skin touches it.
