While I like the design and concept, the execution left me cold. They obviously work for many others, given all the positive reviews; but my experience was not favorable at all…One unit was unusable, as the hook insert was installed backwards.Others had thin areas that necked down a lot when stretched. (The photos of the robust looking Hickies are on shoes without a foot in them. When they stretch, they look much different.)Since the upper units were stretched a lot to fit my shoes, they did not look like they would perform over time, so I returned my purchase.

I purchased these March 30th and they were breaking within 3 weeks. Today, May 16th, was when each shoe was down to 3 hickies each and I called them dead. I had 4 “extra” (once I filled my eyelets with hickies) and those only delayed the end a few weeks. Maybe it was my shoes, but for how long these last they should be $5 and not a penny more. They break where they bend around the eyelet, not where it connects to one another. So it’s a failure of the material due to wear.

Yesterday, these would have gotten 5 stars, but today, I’m taking it down to three. I’ve only had these on my shoes for a couple weeks and the first just broke. Doesn’t give me much hope for their long term durability. But I do like how they look and I like that I don’t have to tie my shoes.***UPDATE*** Dropped my review from 3 stars to 1. Now that I’ve had these a few months, they just keep breaking. They aren’t ANY money, let alone the price they charge. They’re worthless in a couple months. Consider these disposable.

I couldn’t identify what material the ties are made of (rubber or plastic). I use this on my shoe (Reebok Men’s Lumina Fashion Sneaker,Black/Black/Black/Royal,9.5 M US). The performance is fair. The bands have to be arranged in different shapes as shown in the instructions that come in the package. The user has to experiment with the best fit. However, for my purposes, i was only able to go with the most ‘loose’ fitment because the ties were not big enough to reach end to end through each hole. So i had to put 1 tie on each side top hole to bottom hole as shown in the instructions for the most ‘loose’ fit. From about 15 days of usage the fit has become more loose.Update – 10/13/2017 – I purchased this item in 05/2017. So, i’ve used this product for about 5 months now.To start with, this product will only be useful for 1 pair of shoes.I used the loose fit configuration. The product got worn off and broke off. 1 of the ties broke off around 09/2017, and I used the spare. Now this broke off again. I’ve attached pictures.I think the price of $17/- is very high for a product that will not last you even a 6 months. In my opinion this product is not worth $17/-You might as well buy zip-ties from home depot for couple $’s.

I love the ability to convert my shoes into slip ons by using Hickies. I really want to love this. In fact I do.However after use, I would love to see improvement in 2 ways1. They break easily and quickly. I’ve used them for about 2 weeks and they break at the point where they go through the eye loops. This is a high stress point and the material is not hearty enough to maintain integrity. The attached photo of my Hickey illustrates.2. Package does not have spares. When a Hickey breaks, I have to purchase an entire new package to replace the broken one.

People who claim these don’t fit wide feet or are too loose clearly have not read the included instruction booklet. There are many different ways to lace these throughout your shoe to achieve the fit you need. The booklet even indicates that you might need to mix and match lacing styles to find your ideal fit. I was very skeptical about this product before I tried it, and ended up purchasing one pair. Now I’m obsessed and I plan to buy them in tons more colours to fit into all of my shoes. Sure, you may have to spend a few minutes working on figuring out to how to lace them ideally at first, but once they’re in, you never need to meddle with them again. They are completely secure but are also reusable and can be removed without damaging the product or your shoes. Don’t be lazy. Read the instructions and take the time to practice closing the loop for just a second before inserting into shoes, and you’ll have them laced and ready to go in no time. It took me all of 5 minutes and no, I don’t have especially thin or nimble fingers or anything. Give them a chance. You will love the clean look and ease of getting into and out of your shoes. I’m an athlete and plan to use these in my running shoes as well as my casual sneakers. So glad to have discovered this product.

Terrible! Bought these for my daughter and they all snapped and broke while she played volleyball! If I could give zero stars, I definitely would!!

I purchased these lacing system based on positive reviews, I purchased a total of 4 packages (2 white, 2 black) for Christmas presents for family members. I opened one package and tried the straps on 3 different pairs of shoes (Nike, Adidas). After installing the straps, I couldn’t even open the shoe to slide my foot in. I played around a while and left only 3 straps on the shoes, the shoes were still too tight, I struggled to slide my shoes in. After walking 5 laps around my local park, I felt pain on my foot near the top of the shoe. When I attempted to slide my foot out from the shoe, the top strap snapped. I experience the exact same thing on different pairs of shoes. Bottom line, I kept one because I had already opened the package but I returned the other 3 sealed packages due to the bad experience I had. I would NOT recommend this product.

A great idea and they look lovely but they make my trainers too tight across the top of my foot.
Peter Mc Cann –
I like these because they are far better than laces I would highly recommend them.

Just what I wanted. I have been using these in my trainers for some time and find them very good.

I’ve bought quite a few of these for various members of the family but they are particularly useful for my son who has ASD and consequently isn’t great with laces. He had these in his trainers for school sports. They can be quite tight but fortunately there are a number of different ways to tie use then. There are instructions or YouTube videos to help.

I have used them for all my trainers as I struggle with using laces.
