Finding a good wi-fi signal is sometimes easier said than done, particularly if you are not at home, like say if you are visiting a parent who now lives in the middle of nowhere(sigh.) If there are only one or two signals nearby and your parents don’t even have wi-fi, preferring instead a wired phone connection that still gives AOL ten bucks a month in the year 2014, then you are in for some boring nights out at the farm. Luckily, a designer has cooked up an invention to help turn you into a walking wi-fi hotspot. That’s the good news. The bad news? It takes the form of a onesie.
Onesies, long thought to be the purview of babies, can also be worn by adults. Dutch designer Borre Akkersdijk has proven this by creating a tech-heavy onesie that is for anything but burping up your liquid and pureed dinner. Also, as previously indicated, it turns you into a walking wi-fi hotspot. It’s called the BB.Suit and is also equipped with GPS so your friends and enemies can find you at a moment’s notice. The future! Of course, laundry is a problem with a device such as this. The designer has stated his current designs can survive a few wash cycles, but that doesn’t bode well for the longevity of clothing such as this.
This onesie was shown off at last month’s SXSW festival and, as such, it is to be considered only a working prototype. We’ll let you know when you can dress up like a baby and conduct Wi-fi signal for yourself.
