Shoes are cool. They get us from point A to point B. They help us play basketball. They, uh, allow us to throw things that hook around power lines that sometimes lay there for months and years on end. In short, our feet would be cut up beyond repair without them. As useful as they are, they could use a whole heap of wearable technology love to help leap them into the next stratosphere. You know, Space Jam ’em up nice. Don’t worry. The industry is on top of that like socks on feet. Here is a pair of shoes that is so futuristic, so geeky, that it may just have you swear off regular sneakers forever.
Zaha Hadid, who usually spends her time making far out buildings, has turned his architectural eye to footwear. She’s teamed up with United Nude’s Rem D. Koolhaas to design the NOVA shoe. This amazingly futuristic shoe is a 6.25 inch platform wonder made out of vinyl, rubber, fiberglass and leather. As you can see, it looks like something a time astronaut in the year 3254 would wear on a visit to the planet XB348. In other words, it’s awesome!
The designers are only producing 100 of these bad boys so if you want your piggies to be surrounded by futuristic mumbo jumbo you had better act fast. Also, you had better check with your accountant before you plunge and make the purchase. A pair of these will set you back a full $2,000. Ouch? Ouch. Here is a video of the shoes in sci-fi action.
