By now you should not be surprised that wearable tech is big business. But you may be surprised about just how big it is. According to new research CB Insights, a New York based firm that does research on how venture capital firms spend their cash, showed that investments in wearable technology companies accounted for a whopping $570 million in total.
While those investments are spread out over a number of different companies and a variety of projects, the overall investment in a field that has yet to show significant profit generating potential, is a strong vote of confidence. This research includes money given both to the physical developers of products and to app developers for projects like Google Glass.
