I’m very pleased with this device. I’ve worn it on the boat often and find it comfortable to wear, easy to adjust and quite secure. Thankfully, I haven’t needed to pull the release. So I can’t speak on its effectiveness. However, from all appearances, it should do the job!

This meets US Coast Guard regulations for paddle boarding and it’s lightweight and out of the way when paddling. Haven’t deployed it yet so can’t write in that regard but otherwise I’m happy with this product. Wouldn’t recommend this for weak swimmers, as it doesn’t provide any buoyancy unless deployed. Happy paddling!

Excellent product. Just as described. Mainly wanted to post pictures to show the packaging since there are not great pics for their listing.

Let me begin by saying that I am very happy with my purchase. I have two of these which I bought at different dates. I use this PFD primarily for paddleboarding and I haven’t had the opportunity to deploy it yet. The waist strap is very spartan but isn’t too uncomfortable. There is one small thing you should be aware of when setting up this belt. When you are “arming” the belt there is a small green and very delicate safety tab that is inserted in the firing mechanism. If you break this tab the firing mechanism will not have any positive block to prevent firing The safety tab in addition to the CO2 cartridge will need to be replaced if you pull the lanyard. This can only be purchased from the manufacturer.

We bought one of each Onyx style, the Onyx M-16 and M-24. Both models provide a certified solution. The M-16 is light and easy to wear. We weren’t sure if the M-24 would be too bulky with the back panel that holds the water bottle. We’ve found that it isn’t and that it works great holding our water bottles. A variety of bottle sizes fit, including a Gatorade bottle.

Awesome way to stay protected and move freely in a kayak. I inflated it and checked it as directed. It fully inflated and folded back up without any issues. I’ve taken it on multiple trips that exceeded 30 miles and can say that I honestly forget I’m wearing it until I look down at it.

This product works as advertised. It is a slim line belt to be worn as a PFD. Ensure you read the instructions for testing and for wearing so you are in compliance with USCG requirements. I’ve worn this for ~5 training paddles and a SUP race and have been pleasantly surprised. Note the straps are nylon with no padding or cover, so they caused immediate pilling on my tri suit, you may experience the same thing on other fragile fabrics, but I have not had an issue with it on any of my rash guards. The Velcro tabs which help keep the inflatable portion tucked away are small and like to come undone but this does not hamper the look, feel, or functionality. I’m glad I got this model with the clip version of the pull-to-inflate handle, it would be annoying to have it dangling everywhere. I suggest adding a clip on whistle and light to complete your safety gear per USCG requirements.
