A Large and Extra Large size was purchased for a woman who is 5’4”, ~200 lbs., bust of 38-40”, hips are ~43” (it’s a guess) and wears size 38 waist pants. She wanted it longer than the women’s.I bought two (XL and L) because I wasn’t sure about the size. The XL was too big in the arms but fit well around the hips. She decided to keep the L and just folds under the tighter zipper part. She kept the navy one which is a nice rich color. It can be mistaken for black if you’re wearing lighter colors (she loves that).Nice and warm, great for water repellent and if you do get wet; you still stay pretty warm. It is a VERY HEAVY sweatshirt, so don’t hang it on a plastic hanger. It will literally bend it off the rod. ?It’s a Carhartt, so the quality is definitely there. Although it had a couple of loose stitches upon arrival, it’s nothing you wouldn’t see in a traditional store. It arrived in a box that was crushed a bit, but the bag inside kept the sweatshirt nice and clean.Excellent choice for a Christmas present for 2017 (I’m way late on writing my review). However, this has given us a year to use, abuse and wash this thing. It still looks new- it’s been washed with all kinds of things; from jeans to underwear ? (we have two kids- if the laundry gets done it’s a win).The zipper on this thing is nice and thick/strong, but could nick clothing. It feels a little “sharper” than other pant zippers. I recommend you zip it up before washing. If I had my druthers, I would probably wash it with cold water, maybe a towel or two and couple pairs of thick sweatpants (or similar). I definitely have to make sure the washer spins on “high,” because this thing holds the water when getting washed.In summary of this long review – get it if you’re looking for a sweatshirt that can be worn alone until about 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit. Bought for my son. I got the regular extra large size. He’s 5’10” and about 225 pounds. It was a perfect fit for him. It looks really nice. It could be worn with casual or slightly more formal clothing and still look nice. I like that there’s an inside pocket. It was really cold the day my son tried it on and went outside. He said he didn’t feel the cold at all under the jacket. I chose this jacket because it’s warm/thermal but without being so stiff that you can’t easily move around wearing it. A lot of outdoor jackets are just uncomfortable to wear. This one is comfortable enough that you wouldn’t necessarily take it off when you came inside (unless you got too hot) but regular outdoor jackets and coats, I can’t wait to take those off because it feels like I can’t move.

This is a great, durable, warm and comfortable sweatshirt. Definitely Carhartt quality. I ordered the 2XL. I’m 6’5” and the length of it is definitely short. For a standard size it’s perfect. But Tall sizes weren’t available. The sleeves and waist are a good bit short but it’s still a quality product. Super warm and the Rain Defender is great in wet weather.

The fabric is fairly smooth to the touch and seems to shed moisture quite well.If I have a single complaint it would be the lack of zipper quality on this product. I definately expected much better hardware on a $70+ Carhartt garment.
