Currently testing and haven’t made a decision on value of this tracker. My testing consists of leaving tracker at home on back patio in a suburb neighborhood and taking handheld unit with me while walking dog. So yes there are ranch homes surrounding tracker. First time doing this test on a clear day it did track fairly well, it does seem be sluggish on updating direction ie tracker is north of me then shows NE then north then NE all the while walking.Today same testing method and overcast weather hand held unit had a lot of gps updating. Not conclusive but I wonder how well this works in bad weather?I bought this track so when I take the dog to the outdoors if she takes off (I doubt she would). I can find her asap. Where I tend to go in the great outdoors in Wisconsin tends to be wooded with a lot of hills and valleys and I’m concerned the handheld unit will show a lot of gps updating.I am still learning about the device and these issues could just me. With that said I’m not sure about the handheld reading “device nearby” and not showing direction or feet away. I know you can toggle the tracker light or audio to find it. I wonder when does that message of “nearby” trigger? 50’, 25’? Haven’t sat down to read carefully the instruction pamphlet yet.I’ll update as I confirm items with this device.

It’s really not easy to choose a dog GPS tracker for my furry friend. I’m a technical guy, but it’s still difficult.First of all, I know that almost all dog trackers use GPS, and whether the positioning is accurate is related to GPS, but the accuracy is easily affected by the environment. If you are in a dense city or dense forest, any dog GPS is difficult to give peace of mind; but when you‘re in a sunny open area, the GPS is good, regardless of which dog tracker collar it is. Of course provided that the product design does not have bugs.Second, the bigger difference between trackers is whether they rely on cellular signals. Tractive, which requires a monthly fee, usually relies on cellular networks, should you choose it? The easiest way is to reach the places your dog frequents and check your cell phone signal, if it’s good, then you can use it; if the signal is unstable, then your tractive such a tracker with subscription will not perform well. This is my case, living in the country, he became an escape artist, he always goes to places where is no phone signal, this aorkuler GPS dog collar works well and it solved my problem. Although I can guess where he might to go, I would still be very worried if I didn’t know exactly where he was located.I don’t need an APP provided by tractive because features like e-fence are always not accurate; also features for activity monitoring don’t make sense. If you want to take seriously the activity data, you find they are of little use, like the first generation of fitbit more than a decade ago, and the really valuable data they can’t monitor. Most apps of gps tracker for dogs just have a beautiful surface, the practical is not good, either the fence is not accurate enough, or poor user experience, or the data monitored by outdated technology lacks value. And with no APP, I not only save the monthly fee, but also do not have to hold up the phone without signal to look around. While I did well in my privacy protection, no app to steal data also gives me complete peace of mind.

I always took my dog for hiking on the weekends, and usually the cellular signal is poor in those areas, so I was trying to buy a dog GPS tracker that doesn’t rely on cellular network. Because the mobile phone cannot connect to the Internet in areas without cellular signal, so some GPS trackers that need to connect to the phone app are not reliable, finally I choosed Aorkuler GPS dog tracker which is not require APP. After I received the product, I conducted some testings near my home, and I will continue to update the use of this product in the future. The Aorkuler dog GPS tracker includes a controller and a tracker. Turn on both devices outdoors and wait for the device to connect to the GPS satellite successfully, then you can use it. The device is very easy to use, unlike other dog GPS trackers, Aorkuler does not have a map, but finds the dog through the direction and distance displayed on the controller, this is very convenient and useful especially in unfamiliar places. If the Aorkuler is used for the first time or turned on after a long shutdown, the device often connect to the GPS satellites successfully within three minutes. I understand that such GPS devices which don’t use cellular networks usually take longer to locate because it cannot use the cellular network for assistant positioning, but I still hope the device can be even a little faster. Well, if it is in normal use, the performance of reconnecting to the satellite is not bad, normally in 10 to 20 seconds. Also due to the characteristics of GPS, it is not recommended to use this kind of product in dense forest, because it will be a high chance that your device will not be able to connect to GPS satellites.Another surprise is the sound alarm on the tracker, unlike the beeping on some GPS trackers, the sound of Aorkuler is good for you to find your dog when you are outdoors at close range.

Took awhile to get his signal. And took 8 minutes to find a tool to pry the strap onto my collar

I received the product today and have not been able to even use it. The instruction manual is poorly written and has big gaps in the information it provides. And one of the videos I found actually claimed that something I could not do is easy. No, it is virtually impossible – I’m referring to how the tracker connects to our dog’s collar. The rubber stretch bands provided are too short, and impossible to stretch enough to secure the tracker and the tracker holder to the collar. And there’s no phone support from the company or, after just trying, from Amazon. I will have to return this product.Updated 4/14/23.Based on the superior customer service that Aorkuler has provided over the last few weeks, I am updating my review from 1 to 4 stars. Here’s why. Aorkuler explained the use case I was looking to solve for our dog (or scenario as they called it) was not suited to this device. And Aokuler explained why. In addition, they acted with great speed to not only send a new, improved strap that made it easy to attach the tracker to our dog’s collar, but also send me a refund. So in short, I am highly impressed by their customer service, and hopeful that their new product, when ready, will serve my needs.
