Already loving my Whoop! The journaling feature is very helpful in tracking my behaviors in terms of how much caffeine I’m drinking, how stressed I am and tracking which vitamins I am taking. The onboarding content that pops up in the App has been super helpful to learn the features of the Whoop. My favorite so far is how much sleep I am getting versus how much sleep I need. Excited to keep using the Whoop! This is a great investment so far in my health!

I have had this for a few days and I am disappointed in how poorly it tracks my first weight lifting workouts.I have tried so many wrist and arm based activity trackers and none of them were able to accurately track my heart rate (compared to a chest strap) while lifting weights. They just aren’t good at tracking the type of high variability that comes with weight training. But I have heard great things about Whoop and when I had the chance to review this I went for it.Well, I am sorry to say that this is no better than the others. I wore this and a chest strap while doing a vigorous weight lifting routine and the Whoop was regularly 30-40 beats below my actual heart rate when I was maxing out. And because of this it grossly under-calculated my calorie burn in comparison to the Polar fitness app which is connected to my chest strap. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you exactly how far off it was because the workout stats disappeared when I ended the workout and I don’t see a way to review workouts in the app! Over the years, I have used every workout app you can think of, and every single one of them lets you immediately review the stats of a completed workout. But this workout I completed in Whoop vanished into the cloud with no way for me to check the duration or the calories or any other stats. But I can see that it incorrectly recorded my workout as running rather than weight training.Anyway, there are other metrics that this tracks, and perhaps I will see the value in those things. But if it can’t accurately track the intensity of my workouts then I suspect everything else will be off. I mean, how is it supposed to know how much recovery I need when it doesn’t know how strenuous my workouts are?So I will keep wearing this for a couple of weeks and if I see the benefit I will continue to use it. But the thing I can’t do, and what I was hoping I could do, is ditch my chest strap. No matter what, I am going to have to keep using my chest strap and keep using another app to track my workouts.Prior to this, for tracking my daily activity and sleep I was using a Fitbit that has a screen and allowed me to check the time, phone notifications, etc. The screen is very convenient! So this Whoop needs to be leaps and bounds better than Fitbit for me to pay a monthly fee AND give up my screen AND have to keep using a chest strap. Plus my Fitbit does most things for free (there is a subscription tier that I don’t have or need). If you want to change the color of the Whoop band, have you seen the crazy prices? They are charging $50-$100 for a fabric band! My lord! And I started receiving their marketing emails within a day of registering too.I just don’t get it. And I do not recommend Whoop if you want to track workouts where your heart rate is highly variable. If I discover any redeeming value in this I will revise my review. For me this is a 1-2 star product but I’m sure this is better for steady state activities where your heart rate doesn’t fluctuate as much, so I am giving it 3 stars.*Thanks ?for taking the time to read my HONEST review. When deciding on buying something I greatly depend on reviews from others, so I hope this helps you make a more informed purchase decision!P.S. There is another review, targeted at my review, that makes all kinds of ridiculous and false assumptions about weight lifting. The comments are uninformed at best and completely reliant on bad stereotypes at worst. That reviewer claims that Whoop measures “electro/chemical activity” which is rather impossible considering it has no way to measure these things. That whole review is based on this false claim that is totally fabricated by the reviewer. If you go to the Whoop website you can see that the sensor is composed of 5 LEDs (three green, one red, and one infrared) and 4 photodiodes. That’s it. These are incapable of measuring “electro/chemical activity” so be weary of anything you read in that review.

I love this tracker and it’s charge on the go feature. I can wear it 24/7 and it’s super sleek on my wrist. I’ve been working on getting more consistent sleep – the whoop tracks how much time I spend in each sleep stage and has a nifty feature that coaches you on when to go to bed based off of how much sleep your body needs. I use the health monitor every morning to check my heart rate variability and resting heart rate – I can also easily email my cardiologist a history of these metrics straight from the app – how neat! It’s been interesting to see what activities increase my strain the most between hiking, yard work, and walking my husky. I also like the stress monitor – I use the breathing exercise after having a presentation at work. The whoop seems to be getting smarter as I use it more – how cool!

I purchased the Whoop 4.0 after a friend introduced me to it. Looked and sounded great.Hopefully I just have a faulty one and no one else has experienced this, specifically as it’s a health related product, not a pleasurable purchase, just seems to make the fact it’s completely dead even more so. After fully charging (three times) it’s won’t connect with my Bluetooth, no light indicator when tapped (as instructed) – literally lifeless.Sending back. Such a shame as the concept of the product was a major interest to me.

I’ve been using an Apple Watch up to this point and my wife uses a WHOOP. We’ve compared and contrasted the data and information we have access to, the interface of that information, and the phone app. I finally am making the switch over to Whoop. My Apple Watch still has other valuable functionality that I find useful but the health component isn’t comparable to the WHOOP.

Really love that Whoop doesn’t have a screen, but still provides an immense plethora of data and information. Extremely accurate tracking in such a compact and wearable device! Battery life if fantastic as well!
