EDIT: Updating review with more details. Stars remain the same, although I’d bump it to 3.75 if I could.TORRAS asked me to give their 5000 mah “Extended Battery” version a try. Note that they DID NOT ask for me to upgrade the rating, they just wanted to try and make it work for me. For the most part, it works like the 4000 mah versions and thus, the ORIGINAL REVIEW stands, just with an average of an extra 30 minutes to an hour depending on operating mode. After several full charges and use discharges over the course of 2 weeks, this is the average operational time of the 5000 mah version:Cooling/Heating 1 = ~4 Hours and 30-ish minutes.Cooling/Heating 2 = ~3 Hours and 10-ish minutes.Cooling/Heating 3 = ~2 Hours and 20-ish minutes.Fan 1 = Nearly 20 Hours.Fan 2 = ~14 Hours.Fan 3 = ~8 Hours.Charge Time from 0 to 100 = Slightly above 2 Hours. One minor feature that is unique to the Extended Version but, no offense to TORRAS, is kind of useless outside of testing, is that the metal plates of the 5000 mah Version do color change from brown to black as they cool. It would have been a neater novelty if part of the exterior color-changed based on temperature, even if it’s just 2 small sections on the tips of the blowers, such that one can glance down and see what mode they’re on (if the wearer gets used to the white noise from the air flow and fans).–ORIGINAL REVIEW:This review is over my thoughts concerning this portable neck cooler.Build Quality – 5Packaging – 5Battery Life – 1Cooling – 3Fan Noise – 4/4/2 (Low/Middle/High Speed)Comfort – 5TORRAS Customer Support – 5Overall, I like the concept and the quality of this neck cooler (and heater). It feels well-made and to some degree moisture resistant. The blowers at all levels provide a good amount of air upwards like an air curtain, while the Peltier cooling plates provided some notable cooling (and heating). It has what amounts to 9 modes; Cooling Levels 1-3, Fan-Only 1-3, and Heating 1-3, making it a rather impressive unit for moderately cold and moderately warm weather. Comfort-wise, I almost forgot I had it on, until it died from running out of battery and the plates quickly became warmer than my body temperature.——However, there are 2 very major issues I could not reconcile with and the reason why I returned this item.- The first, and the biggest, issue in my opinion, is the inability to use the neck cooler while it’s plugged into a larger battery bank, as even on the lowest Cooling setting (Fan + Cooling Plates), it barely made it to 2 Hours. The moment the device is plugged in, it will turn off. I also own a cheap Chinese neck cooler with a far smaller cooling plate and 2 conventional fans, and it can work off both its built-in battery, and while plugged in to a battery bank, or a charger, or a laptop.- The second biggest issue is that the cooling plates don’t get as cold as I’d hoped; having tested them at work where the AC unit in my work area is perpetually broken and it can get pretty humid. It was cool enough to avoid sweating for a bit, but even on the highest setting, the plates seemed to have trouble getting enough air blown across the heatsinks that aid in the Peltier Effect, with much of that air instead going towards the “air curtains” that blow up and around the head.I really wanted to love this item and keep it, but the above 2 points were the biggest deal-breakers. If I can’t keep it powered to last me a typical 8-12h work day, and only able to last 2 hours on the lowest Cold or Heat setting before needing a recharge for an hour or so, it just isn’t worth the investment.——For comparison’s sake, I also own a number of other cooling devices:- Sony Reon 2 w/ Accessories (Imported)- Generic Chinese Neck Cooling Fan (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089LM5DDJ)- Japanese? Neck Peltier Cooling Plate (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097PD69CM)- The Sony Reon 2 I bought from Japan for similar cost does more than the Coolify2, in the sense that it also uses the Peltier effect to provide heating or cooling of the body, but does so by cooling the primary blood vessels running down the back and letting that slightly lower total body temperature. The issue with it is more that you need to own one of the semi-fitted shirts that this would fit into, as the neck accessory raises it too high and doesn’t keep it pressed firmly against the back. As well, one has to download the app from a trusted app store (on Android). But the biggest advantage that I love is that it can work with an L-shaped connector attached to a battery, and can extend its operation time. It however is an energy hog, and can actually run out of battery faster than it can keep itself charged at high settings.- Generic Chinese Cooling Fan – I left a review on that in the item’s listing. But the short of it is that it works, but is somewhat flawed. I would actually rate it a bit higher than this only because it can be utilized while plugged in, extending use time.- Neck Cooling Plate – Unlike the Coolify2 and the others, it HAS NO BATTERY. It works while plugged in. In exchange however, it really cools, almost borderline uncomfortably so. The issue it has is the fans are of crappy quality and loose in their housing; one can easily here the wobbling when moving around with it on. Somewhat like the Sony Reon, it cools by cooling down the skin and blood vessels in the neck, overall inducing a “cooler” feeling.——To close, this is my little wishlist of upgrades I’d love to see in a theoretical “Coolify3”.- The ability to use it while plugged in; to a battery bank, wall charger, or a laptop. This would greatly extend continuous usage of it in situations I’d likely take it through; whether it’s light hiking, park walking, working, or gardening.- Improved cooling plate performance; maybe direct a bit more of the blowers’ airflow towards slightly larger heatsinks, to provide a bit more cooling (and heating) power; especially in moderately humid conditions.- A “battery-less” version that gives up battery space for additional cooling performance, and requires running off some form of external power, like a battery pack, wall charger, or laptop. Maybe also include a Bluetooth module into that void that allows for linking to a mobile app, allowing for finer control over the fan speed (and corresponding cooling/heating level).

The Torras Coolify 2 helps me keep cool when I am hiking.I was looking for something that would keep me cool when it was hot outside, especially when I am hiking. On my hikes I have used cooling gaiters with some success and later combined it with a hiking umbrella. But there are downsides to the gaiter (it keeps me cool, but it dries out and does not last for my entire hike) and the umbrella (the trails are sometimes narrow or overgrown and there may be other hikers on the trail and the umbrella would get in the way). So, I continued to look for other products that would keep me cool.I first heard of the Torras Coolify when I saw a lady wearing it at a restaurant. I had just finished a hike in hot weather. I asked her if her neck fan worked and she said something to the effect of “I wouldn’t go anywhere without it”. She told me her husband bought it for her from Amazon and that he had purchased one for himself. I took a picture of her neck fan so I could look it up when I got home. When I got home, I looked up the Torras neck cooler on Amazon. I saw that it was much more expensive than the other neck cooling devices on Amazon, so I was very hesitant to purchase it. I looked at the other “neck fans” and read their reviews and they seemed okay, but I still liked what I read about the Torras Coolify 2 in their product description and in their product reviews.I overcame my hesitancy to try their product because of the 30 days return for any reason policy.I ordered the Torras Coolify 2 (5000mAh) and received the product quickly (it came the next morning). The Torras Coolify 2 was packaged well. I was pleasantly surprised with how the product looked and felt. It felt sturdy and looked well made. I was able to try it later that day because the Torras Coolify 2 came already charged. I took a short walk so I was able to keep it on the lowest cool setting (C1) for the entire walk and I definitely felt cool.During the next few weeks, I used it on three hikes. Due to the length of time that I would spend on the trail, I knew that the charge would not last on the lowest cool setting for my entire hike, so, I switched between the lowest cool setting and the lowest fan setting. The charge lasted until the end of my hikes using this strategy and it really helped me endure the heat. I did notice the weight of the Coolify around my neck and the Coolify 2 got a little warm from use, but this was offset by the comfort I felt using the Coolify 2.I was also pleasantly surprised by the after-purchase support. I received an email from Gwen shortly after I purchased the product. She reminded me to activate my warranty and said if I had any questions, to just send an email. I did send a few messages to her and I received a prompt reply to each one of them.My main concern now is how long the Coolify 2 will last. The warranty period is only 180 days. I am hoping that it lasts a lot longer than that because it really helps me.

As I roll into my 60s and still work for a living I wonder each spring how I’m going to make it through the next southeast summer. Well so far since I received my Coolify2 last month temperatures have reached to the mid 80s. And my Coolify2 has made a huge difference on the job. So far in these temps setting 1&2 have worked well ,usually the #1 setting. While I am very pleased with the performance of the Coolify2 in these temperatures. Most of our summers are normally well into the 90s and sometimes into 100s. So… I just ordered the New Coolify2S. Because the new model will run while being charged so I don’t have to worry of running out of battery power! Also has better run time on built in battery. I think both models are $$$ well spent!

Being a woman in my 60s, I’m very hot natured. When I decided to travel to the UK during June and July, I knew I’d be in trouble with the heat, as air conditioning is pretty rare there. I bought the TORRAS COOLIFY 2 in hopes that it will provide relief. I’ve worn it at home, whenever it’s within reach and I get HOT. It definitely helps me get cooler, even if only using the FAN function.Pros: It definitely helps me cool down, and the unit is admirably quiet when running on low & medium speeds. As the description says, the fan is bladeless, so there’s no issue with it pulling my hair.Great battery life, and charges with a USB cable instead of requiring an a/c outlet.Cons: If carrying it when sightseeing, it will force me to carry a larger purse/bag, and the weight may be detrimental (when not in use). The unit beeps when turning it on/off, and I’m concerned it may be audible if I wear it during a performance or other quiet place.I’ve noticed that if I’m sweating and I place it on my neck, it can get a bit irritating to the skin, since the weight of it sort of drags.I have wondered if it will be prone to theft, if I’m sitting at a cafe wearing it – it looks a bit like a headset, but might be a curiosity to others.I have also wondered if the unit will raise questions when I enter places that they check contents of my bag.Overall, I’m very excited to have the TORRAS COOLIFY 2 – I know it will improve my travel experience!

For anyone that has lived thru a Southeast summer, you know there is nothing hotter and damper than maybe the devil’s armpits. So it goes without question if you can find any advantage in this ever enduring battle, you will be willing to take it. That’s where the Coolify2 comes in. It does what it does extremely well. The model I have is the extended battery model. Out of the box, I plugged it in to cap off a full charge and tested the fan to see if it really lasted as long as the specs online said. I was happy to determine it does. I went on to test the cool setting duration, and was equally happy to see it lasted as long. It would be a couple months before I could test the heat functions, as I had to wait for an Alabama Summer to end. However, when the time came, my device’s heat function worked perfectly. The fan function does a good job cooling you, especially when indoors. Imagine it as a fine tuner of ambient temperature. Outdoors can be a bit more complicated. The fan function works well up to a point. Once it gets around 93 F, the fan function just blows the hot ambient air around. The cool function works well in this condition, but even it has some drawbacks, as sweat will make wearing the Coolify uncomfortable. As long as you can run the cold function and stay dry, it works well. The heat function is where the Coolify2 really shines. If you’ve ever had to endure sharing a room, be it at work or at home, with someone that apparently believes the AC should be on even in the winter when it’s cold outside – – This device will be a godsend. Oh and if you are one of those people, especially if you ask questions like, “Oh, are you cold?” The answer is “Yes.” Why would you even ask that? You just witnessed me shivering and saw my breath. Anyway. The heat function works amazingly. Just the right amount of heat directly to your neck to cut through the cold. Now that I’ve finished fanboying the Coolify2 I should give you some warnings. This isn’t so much a Cons to the Pros I put forward, but more of a Don’t Do list. The plastic molding of the device can be brittle. Be mindful of that, it doesn’t affect how well the device works, but you do want to maintain the device as long as possible. While the middle of the device is made of a flexible rubber, that rubber is connected to the same thin plastic. Therefore, it can flex and bend just like it does in the advertisement. However, I would recommend not doing that though as it is only so many times it can be stressed before the connecting frame will crack and break. So keep in mind, only open it as much as you need to put it on. I personally slide mine on from the side of my neck and spin it around into the proper position. Also, Torras gave you a case, be sure to use it. When you can, be sure to charge the device on the floor to reduce chances of it falling to the ground. If you don’t already own a fast charger, you will want one. I’ve gone from 0% charge to 100% in about an hour using mine.Last but not least, if you do run into problems early on, be sure to contact Torras’ customer support ASAP. My experience with them has been very helpful. Just be sure to be thorough when describing your issue, and keep up with your receipt information. In my case I pointed out the cracking issue I had been having and they took care of things for me. I purchased mine from Amazon so all of my details were easily accessible. Also, if you can, it doesn’t hurt to buy a warranty plan. This is an investment into your well being, so the extra expense is worth it just in case. Shout out to Winky, great customer service. I hope this helps you decide if you would like a Coolify2. I give it two thumbs up.
