Xiaomi could be about to launch a new budget smartwatch – the Redmi Watch – under its budget brand for developing markets.

It’s teased the Redmi Watch via its official channels, and it’s expected to launch at the company’s event on 26 November – alongside some new Redmi smartphones.

If you haven’t heard of Redmi, it’s (unbelievably) a sub-brand of Xiaomi that sells devices even cheaper than its parent company. Redmi predominantly sells in India and Xiaomi in its native China (and globally).

Marketing materials for the event point to a phone and watch – and it would be the first from Redmi. It has launched wearables in the past and got plenty of traction with its Redmi Band earlier this year.

Some of the materials found by Notebook Check refer to two watches registered by Xiaomi, with the model numbers REDMIWT01 and REDMIWT02.

The latter appeared as the Mi Watch Lite, so it could be that the watch about to land is the missing REDMIWT01 – and could be the same watch rebranded.

That’s essentially what happened with the Redmi Band, which was the Xiaomi Mi Band 4C rebadged.

If they are the same watches, then the Redmi Watch could sport a 1.4-inch display, standalone GPS, 5ATM water resistance and a heart rate monitor.

We’ll update this story when the new smartwatch is confirmed, although it’s unlikely to get a release outside of developing markets.
