I live in MN, and so i am actually more interested in using these pants for winter activities than in the rain. For things like snowshoeing, fat biking, or ice climbing, these make a great top layer to prevent you from getting wet and to stop the wind. I found they worked great when ice climbing recently. With a nice base layer under, i was perfectly comfortable outside all day. Despite going through the snow, and making contact with the ice while climbing, i stayed perfectly dry. The built in venting works well at allowing them to breathe some without letting the wind cut right through them. I also appreciate the zippered pockets to keep my wallet, phone, keys, etc. dry and safe from falling out.My only complaint is waist sizing. Mine fit, but I do wish i had gotten a medium. I typically wear a 31″ waist for jeans, and so i went with the small. They are a bit on the tight side. They work, but I suspect a medium would have been better. The inseam is spot on though – no complaints there.Overall, these pants work great for what I had hoped. They are comfy, and perform excellent so far. I have not had a chance to wear them in a hard rain – but they seem to work great on snow and ice – which is ultimately water too.
